The supply level is way too low to sustain operations at Singapore. I should have thought of that before I launched the
paratroopers. Once they were on the ground they became a liability and I HAD to send some troops to protect them so they
could withdraw and get ready for another mission. So the troops are there and there's no supply. I'm going to have to
hijack all the engineer units between here and Manila and put them to work on the rails to get to Singapore. The trouble
is that all the other engineers are busy elsewhere doing something relatively important too.

Image

Is there "port to port" supply that would help or is that already in effect?

I'm not used to a game where the Soviets are active. This is different.

Image

These red units are the Mao Communist PLA armies that fought Japan. There are Soviet units in the far north but they do not become active until about July of 1945.

Supply is abstracted so much that the "port to port" supply system is already figured in and
in operation. The scenario designer can designate how much supply comes out of each specific
supply point and Thomas has opted for the minimums I suppose. Or maybe it's just that I'm
so far from the nearest supply point that it's just attenuated a lot.

I've had this situation come up in my WITP-AE games, one with Brian, where the supply
level got really low in the interior of Malaya near Kuala Lumpur and Johare Bharu and the
operation couldn't continue that way so I had to ship about 20K of supply to Mersing on an
emergency basis from Cam Rahn Bay and then wait a couple of days before it became nominal
again. There's no provision for carrying supplies and or fuel. Thomas Harvey developed
some subchasers for the escorting of LCU's over the high seas and it works. That's like
loading the unit on ships and transporting them in AK's in the case of the Japs or for the
Allied side you gotta use an AP and there's a class of transport that can carry most of
a Division although most of the time you'd want to split it up into about three pieces to
transport it. The idea is to have the escort provide not only SCTF properties but AA
cover as well. Subchasers don't have a lot in the way of AA protection so for that you're
going to need a bigger ship, a DD or CL. I don't like using CA's as escorts, they tend to
get damaged by enemy aircraft strikes. Then you gotta repair it and everything. Although,
the best escorts are those that can handle a little aircraft strike or two.

There's no submarines yet. That's a good thing for the Japs and a not so good thing for the
Allied side. Maybe that'll be added in a future version.

Here's the Burma situation. Thomas has the initiative here and he's calling the shots and besides that he's in charge.
I'm expecting some pushing and shoving on his part sometime soon. He's probably letting them rest after their trip
down here from India.

New moves from Thomas: Here's what's going on in the middle of China now. Actually I guess that's south China. We're
still fighting over the rails and I can't tell if progress is being made or not since the supply situation is so low that
everything happens in slow motion.

There was some recent action on Java and the mopping up has almost ended and the island is almost cleared of enemy units.
Since this image was made I attacked and killed the Dutch unit on the east end of the island. I need to garrison this
island a lot because it's in a great strategic position to guard the southern approaches to the DEI.

This is what Malaya looks like now. I've almost got the rail repaired all the way to Singapore but not yet. Almost but
no cigar. The Allied delegation holds out despite unending bombardments and bombings. There's at least one supply
point there so there's no use trying to starve them out. This is a hard row to hoe.

When I captured Manila the supply situation improved remarkably. I think now I can maybe clear the island. I've got
a partisan in the mountains that's being a pest and I can't seem to get rid of him. Everytime I attack I lose more
than he does so I need different units to chase him evidently. I'm gathering up my supply for the attack that will
force back the Allied defenders into Bataan and then I have no idea how long it'll take to subdue Bataan. Probably
months or more.

We're still fighting over the roads and rails in China. As you can see the Chinese have made themselves at home in the
middle and I'm fighting to clear it all out.

Most of Mindano is cleared there's just the little matter of a couple of partisans and Zamboanga that I need to
capture yet. There used to be some Allied aircraft there but after I bombarded it several times Thomas has moved
them to safety.

Okie dokie, I've moved everybody and reviewed the battles and pulled the trigger and the attacks are executing and all of
a sudden I get this message about Japan launching an ICBM on 50,0 which is near Attu or somewhere. Actually I don't know
where that is. I'll look that up and get back to you. At any rate I'd like to know who ordered that attack and who
carried it out. It didn't go as a result of my orders.

Sounds like the scenario designer was having an inside joke. It would not be the first time I found something questionable in one of these scenarios.

I hate it when that happens... there you are, spending some well earned R+R with your...ahem... lady friend in the Aleutians (as you do) when suddenly, from nowhere, the Japanese launch an Inter Continental Ballistic Missile at your love nest. That's not very nice is it boys and girls?

Thomas and I have spoken to each other via email about the nuclear strike and we think the game engine
got confused by a parent error Thomas had. I redid my turn and that didn't fix the problem so Thomas
re-did his turn and sent it to me and I did one of those end-turn turns and Thomas reports that fixed
it. No parent error. So we're continuing on like we know what we're doing. So I have no idea what
turn we're on now. It's like the smooth flow has a hickup in the middle. I'm guessing that we're
through with all the easter eggs and that everything is nominal now.

Here's what's going on near Liuchow, China. The Chinese are bringing in reinforcemtns and so that means he's gearing up
for a push maybe. I'd better find some troops and rail them in pretty quick or I may have a bigger problem on my
hands.

The supply level near Burma is really poor and I haven't been shooting or moving trying to conserve what supply is there.
I don't anticipate any advances in this area for he rest of the game.

The mop-up continues on Java. Low supply is hampering my attacks. I'm guessing the Allied unit has the same supply
problem as I do maybe not. I have no idea when mop up will terminate.
