4.0.1.15 Public Beta Update

I extracted the update into the main folder but Am still showing version 4,0,0.11

edit: we are supposed to extract into the main folder, not into a subfolder? When I do this I end up with the 4.015 patch folder added into the main folder directory, but no install.

okay very weird. I have to click on the Help - about menu many times until it will show the version, that must be a bug.
Also, I ran individual patch files from within main menu and that seems to patch but only if I start the game from there. if I try an start the game from anywhere else it is not patched.

INSTALLLATION
The update comes in a zip package. It needs to be unzipped into the game's main folder, overwriting the existing files.
This folder, by default, is "Program Files(x86)\Matrix Games\The Operational Art of War IV"

If you are unable to unzip the package into this location (this is possible with certain system settings), then please unzip it into a separate folder, and then copy the files into the game's main folder referenced above.

this is a beta product, and not as yet the full finished patch, which will be different in many ways, a installer for starters, not had the same issue you mention mind you, but it will be seen by the developer all the same and noted, thanks

What he said. You should see the files the way they are seen below [W7 pictured]. Mousing over the Opart 4 file will show the pop up as seen, with the version # [this is the release version]. Take the beta patch and unzip to the same location. You can see the file just above the Opart 4 file, I have renamed it as Opart 4.01.15 to avoid confusion. You can start the game from here by double clicking Opart 4.01.15, or create a desktop shortcut for it.

the install instructions are just wrong - its should have said something like "add files (not folders) to the main folder"
