February 12, 1945

There are images that serve to warm a Japanese player's heart whenever we see them. Seeing American DDs sink is just as fun--perhaps MORE SO--in 1945 as 1041, 1942, 1943, or 1944. Pretty safe to say DD Franks and Halsey Powell will not be reporting back for orders after this day...

What is not shown in that screenshot is 8" Japanese Naval Shells CRUSHING American AMs next to Shanghai...

Next to Shanghai you ask? YEP! All those empty TFs are returning to Shanghai and then south.

What is left of the Japanese surface fleet is now beginning to enter the fray.

John,

I've enjoyed reading your AAR. Thanks for doing that for us.

It seems like Dan is a really nice guy and a quality opponent. That was a nice note he sent.

Until everything is finalized though, I'd advise you stick to your gameplan-whatever that may be-and disregard your opponent's egging you into action that would favor his position. You've repeatedly forsworn any 1944-1945 carrier v. carrier deathmatch for a variety of reasons. You've very recently stated that carriers would NEVER be involved in your interdiction of Dan's carrier 1.0x10^6 Deathstar. Just because it pains your opponent to see you 'go quietly into that great goodnight' doesn't mean that opinion should carry any water with you. In fact, he may be using his silver-tongued oratory to his benefit. At least consider his self-serving interests in exhortations to clash on terms that heavily favor him at the point of combat.

+1

Something I'd liked to ask you since long: what about the new superfast (when submerged) small electric submarines? They should be in service already, isn't it? How does game engine handle them?

Also, what about your ASW? Results, hits, sinkings?

Up in private room now. Have stress test in morning. Going with treadmill vs chemical. Did chemical 3 years ago and didn’t enjoy that. 😠 If you’ve done them before you know what I mean.

Best of luck on that!!

Cannot imagine a stone being worse! Semi-glad to be a male here gang!

Just so you're not misled ... men can get stones, too, and in some cases the urologist gets them out by going through ... a delicate place. Prayers for your wife here as everyone I've heard of who has had stones will vouch that are extremely painful. If your wife has had so many bouts of stones, check her meds. Some medications can cause or exacerbate stone formation. That was the case with my wife FWIW.

Have head around a dozen of them, one, the last one taken surgically. The single most painful thing that has ever happened to me was the first time I used the bathroom after that procedure. Unbeleivable. Passing them was hard enough without the damage from the laser. Best of luck to your wife.

On the semi-good news front, she passed the stone without surgery. Not pleasant but at least there is no medical bill.

February 13, 1945
Tsinan, CHINA

Since the Allies don't use 2EB to attack troops, it is with no surprise that 130 B-24 appear over the skies of Tsinan. These deadly bad-boys are met by nearly 40 Japanese planes. Numerous firing passes occur with six shot down over the city and another 15 or smoking badly (operational losses).

The army can still fight. We get the opportunity and SUCCEED in crushing an American Marine Division. US Casualties: 3329, 55 Guns, and 159 Vehicles.

How about a weak BANZAI!

February 15, 1945

Japanese sub sinkings continue with great frequency. Have about 35 boats left with ten or twelve engaged along the Moppo--West Korean Coast--Shanghai base areas planting little 10-20 Type 88 Minefields. About every over turn I here the delightful mine hitting sound. COOL!

Occasionally, these boats get a chance to shoot at something juicy. Today is that case as I-2-2 sows here 12 mines just NE of Shanghai and then attacks a nice, large American AO. Two TTs slam into USS Winooski and the hapless ship adds to the pain with additional fuel explosions rocking her. She sinks: NICE!

Down along the north coast of Australia I-192 sinks LCM-354 as well as LCM-341 in a combination of TT and gunfire attacks.

Three ships in one day...1945...NICE!
