Pacific at War 1941-1945 v.3.63
RE: Pacific at War 1941-1945 v.3.63
With all those naval forces you have around Bataan, Singapore, and Port Morsby you'd think they couldn't get any supply in there. Naval forces should cut off supply to a hex if you have it completely locked in by land and by sea. Sure would make taking those places easier if they were out of supply, but I don't believe there are any rules for naval blockades but maybe they could put it on the wish list?

Thomas has placed supply points in each of those places so that they never hurt for supplies from
the sea. And he did it deliberately, on purpose and everything. His way of pointing out how hard it
was to take those places away from the Allies I guess.

hex the ship is IN would be interdicted at the very least. Naval blockade......that's a good idea.
There ought to be a help desk that we could call with our good ideas. I'll run that idea past Bob
Cross and see what happens.

Thomas is doing more of his left hook. More movement, more shooting, longer front line. I'm going to have to r
reposition my units or get outflanked and Thomas knows how hard it is to get disengaged from his units. He's
going to destroy most of them because they can't get away. I need some of the reserves to rail to Bangkok to meet
this new threat from the Rangoon area.

Meanwhile, in northern China, I'm trying to outflank Thomas's defenders, the Communist Chinese I think.

Meanwhile at a different position in the north of China the Chinese have defeated my defenders in the southern part of
this AO and are approaching from the south so I had to reposition my troops to face the new threat and three of them
could't disengage and are probably going to be lost but the lines are rearranged now so I'll probably have to back up
to the river and one by one move to the north side of the river.

Grabbing the one corner of Singapore helped the supply situation a lot. I think I can conduct the war down here now.
I'm still bombarding with the ships every turn but the Allies don't seem to be all that bothered by it. I'll just
keep going I guess. Maybe if I add some more airpower to the mix.
EDIT: And yeah, I noticed that about the border around the mini-map too. I'm wondering what causes that to do that.

Here's what's happening with the supply at Port Moresby. I'm not sure what to do about it either. I'm going to have to
pull out of there and let him have Port Moresby I guess.

I got called away to my World at War 1939-1945 game with Brian because he's got priority, sorry Thomas, and I'll
be right back to here asap, so I did a save game and the game engine quit like it always does with PBEM games ( even the
old fashioned ones, like this one. ) and thought while I was off-line ( speaking of TOAW ) I thought I'd look up
a good splash screen to use. I found one. This is the invasion of Guam or somewhere in the south pacific.

I've attached the file that gives that splash screen here below and all you have to do is unzip it and move it to
your graphicsoverride folder and restart toaw so it can read the file.

I was wondering if that scenario contest was still going. The entire Pacific war is just a part of the overall scenario.

Doing something like that would require more extensive changes to the supply model. At a minimum you'd need to differentiate between blockadable supply points and those that represent pre-existing stockpiles that should continue to be available even if the line of supply to the rear is interrupted. Some of this can already be done by adding/removing supply points using the event system. Doing so is easier in single battle scenarios where Turn N is a suitable trigger. IN more open ended ones where more flexible triggers are needed and being able to break a blockade and restore supply can use up a lot of events depending on how complex a situation you want. There may also be issues with hitting the maximum allowed number of events. I know a lot of big scenarios maxed out the count in ACOW, IIRC the max has been raised in newer version but am not sure if it's still reachable by ambitious designers.

RE: Pacific at War 1941-1945 v.3.63
Brian suggested that I place ships in adjacent hexes around my target so that even if there's
no zone of control the flow of supply could be stymied. Except for the supply points at PM,
and Singers, and Bataan. I've already made moves to give up Port Moresby. I leave next turn.
That will leave Bataan and Singers to take down. I gained one hex at Singers and I'm thinking
I might be able to get another pretty soon. Depends on the amount of supply my units are
able to gather from one turn to the next. Now that the supply is flowing to the Singers area
I might be able to take Singers away from Thomas. That would just leave Bataan and I'm
thinking I might be able to use all the ships to take down one place at a time. Put all the
BB's on just one target instead of splitting them up between two targets. That might help.

This hex possession map shows the places where I need to convert hexes and where I'm doing okie dokie. The map says I've
converted all the hexes in the Hanoi area but I can see partisans in the area still. I've been chasing them.

At the present time there is no PO or single player. There may be in the future but not right now. I am the designer of the scenario. And thanks for the interest.

I would highly recomend a PBEM game because it's a more realistic playthrough. And it's more fun. And you'll get to "meet" somebodyORIGINAL: ballyhoo

in the gaming world. There's about 500 of us now. I'm guessing.
But if you don't want to play PBEM or can't for some reason, you could always play it hot-seat against yourself. That way you'll be
more familiar with the units and the map and as a matter of fact you could program the objectives yourself, lay some objective tracs
and you'll be good to go. I've heard through the grapevine that Thomas may in fact be working on putting a PO in the scenario. Don't
know if it's true but it would be a dream come true for me and you. I can't wait to send the B-29's from Tinian to Kobe to bomb
his strategic industry. No wait a minute, I'm the Japs. So I'll sink his fleet near Okinawa and thereby delay the end of the war
until 1946 and thereby win the game. It could happen. I'm going to be covering the new naval rules in my AAR when we finally get
Thomas to drive some of his targets onto my radar screen. He says he's waiting for more equipment. I think he's waiting for another
CV before he tries to venture out into the south pacific. I don't blame him.
