Panels and combat

I've been playing around with the Overlord 44 scenario. I noticed that when there is a combat on the extreme right of the map that the info panels cover it up. The combat units flash through at times. I would think that the map would center on the combat? This is over where the combats involve the British Airborne..Is this normal?
