What are some good scenarios to start with?

Take command of air and naval assets from post-WW2 to the near future in tactical and operational scale, complete with historical and hypothetical scenarios and an integrated scenario editor.

I've watched some play throughs of the tutorial scenarios online. I'd like to play a scenario to get started, wondering what some good introductory ones would be to get my head around the game some more? I've got Don of a New Era and Korean Missile Crisis along with the WG of the Year edition.

As someone who went through this recently, I recommend starting with the Warship tutorial, then Air, then Submarine. The submarine tutorial is tricky, because if you leave it to the AI, there’s a chance your sub will lose against the enemy sub and probably against the final warship as well. You can also run out of torpedoes easily, because they have an absurdly high failure rate and your AI is trigger happy (which can be adjusted in the WRA). After that, there’s also an included air refuelling tutorial (and an accidental duplicate of the same scenario), which is uninteresting, but Mark’s tutorials are fun. Especially the first and third one. The second one is basically just like the first air tutorial.

I would leave the included air tutorial until after going through the strike tutorial sequence that was linked above. The air tutorial will be easier to manage after doing the more manageable strike tutorials, which have a limited number of assets to manage.

After the tutorials, try some smaller scenarios first. The two DLC you mentioned are quite involved and I'd recommend saving them until after some "practice". You can sort the scenario list by complexity when you go to load a scenario, rather than alphabetically. Complexity is arbitrary and assigned by the designer, but in general a lower complexity scenario will have fewer units to manage so you won't be overwhelmed with too much going on at once.

Chris, an additional way to approach learning Command is to copy some of the tutorial scenarios and edit them e.g. swapping in different types of weapons platforms or re-positioning units. This is only meant to augment playing the tutorials since it's a good idea to master them. At some point you will want to try making a scenario of your own. So there is no harm in getting started in the editor early on.

Stand Up (i believe thats the name) is a small air/sea battle set in the Falkands. Its a good intro to mission creation, air to air, and ASUW. A cakewalk if you play the Brits, but not so much playing as the Argies.

As another relative newbie, I also found English Jets Over Uganda instructive and informative. It's not as difficult as the original Air operations tutorial but does have several levels of complexity involved. I was much better able to deal with the Air Ops Tutorial after doing this one.

I've also enjoyed "Operation Baltic Vigilance" and "Good morning Malvinas" - both have a good mix of units (naval and air), and enough units to give you some choices to make, but not too many units that it feels unmanageable.

+1 to "stand up" also. Again - the sweet spot of unit mix and not too many moving parts to handle.

Some good advice in this thread. Both of those scenarios are about as complicated as it gets, so might want to put them off. Don't forget to get the community scenario pack

There was a thread on the CMANO subreddit several months ago that had a list of quite a few smaller scenarios. Once you get through a couple of the tutorial scenarios you might give some of them a try. Here's the thread, and the list of scenarios from the top post:
Scenarios that come with the game:

Operation Trident, 1971 -- Indian missile boats attack Pakistani ships.
Battle of Latakia, 1973 -- Israeli missile boats attacked by Syrian missile boats, then counter-attack.
Fighter Weapons School -- GAT 5 and 6, 1977 - 8 F-4s vs a small defended outpost.
Wooden Leg, 1985 -- Long range Israeli F-15 strike on PLO camp in Tunisia.

More complicated ones, but may still be suitable for beginning players:

Duelists, 1989 -- Evenly matched contest between a British and Soviet carrier group.
Shamal, 1991 -- Fictional but representative scenario of the early days of the Gulf War air campaign. Several targets and long ranges, but a good one to mess around in. I use the scenario editor to add a squadron of F-15E Strike Eagles at Al Kharj.
Iron Hand, 2014 -- Russian strike on Armenia and Azerbaijan, with current Russian equipment including SSMs and some good ARMs.

Scenarios from the Community Pack:

Deter, Detect, Defend, 1962 -- Defend the US Pacific Northwest from incoming Soviet nuclear bombers.
Sandies and Jollies, 1968 -- Use A-1 Skyraiders to escort a rescue helicopter into North Vietnam.
Uncle Marks Tutorials - 2 - English Jets over Uganda, 1973 -- UK flies missions over Uganda, including air-to-air, strike, and reconnaissance.
Angamos Goes the Distance, 1980 -- Take a single Peruvian sub past Chilean patrols to pick up a spy.
Salalah Station, 1986 -- US intervenes in war between Oman and Yemen.
688 Attack Sub 4, Mumar Cadaver, 1989 -- Use a 688-class sub to sink Libyan tankers near the Strait of Gibraltar.
Indonesian War - 3 - Spartan Goes Hunting, 1995 -- Identify and sink Indonesian freighters with a UK submarine.
Littoral Misson - Cebu Strait, 2018 -- US special forces hunt down terrorists in the Philippines.
Raid on Bir Moghrein, 2020 -- Morocco attacks Mauritanian air base.
Texas Crow, 2020 -- US goes after drug lord in Trinidad.

I recommend starting with the most fun scenarios, like canary's cage.

do not worry they are easy once you smash your face into them for a hundred hours.

I also just played Biddle's team. It's a scenario that's not difficult if you're already done all the tutorials. There are two disparate threats, but the overall unit count and threat management are somewhat low. The biggest challenge is figuring out how to accomplish the mission goals with very limited resources.

I started out trying to play Duellists but was completely lost, so then went and did some tutorials. Aside from several scenarios mentioned above, the scenarios that made a HUGE difference for me were Gunner98's tutorials. They're here: tm.asp?m=4300402 You'll have to search near the end of the thread for the last most up to date pack. They're very informative and fun. After doing them I moved back to Duellists and could get things going quite easily. I still think things like Don of a new Era look VERY daunting. There's a lot to learn with this game, and then, when you know how, in the bigger scenarios, a LOT to do. Start small!
