US Isolantionists call for return to home waters

Post by Taxman66 »

I think there may be bug with this event trigger.

I got hit with it when I had the blimp in Greenland and the DD out running the lines off the Canadian coast.

I returned the DD to a US port and the following turn upgraded it, so the only unit outside of 48 states at the start of the turn
was the blimp, which I operated back to the states during the turn (It needs at least 1 more level Long Range before it
it can be of any use in Greenland). I got hit with the event again.

I looked at the script, and while I admit to not being that cognizant of how it reads, there is English verbage
about 2 US units within 100 hexes of Farros. In any event I believe I got hit with this when I shouldn't have.
Only 1 unit was out of the states at the start of the turn (in Greenland) and none at the end of the turn (when the
event fired).

Yeah, got more proof of that.
That is seriously messed up.

Allied Turn: Dec 20, 1941

Does US mobilization increase only happen at the end of the Allied turn? It was at 85% at the end of last turn.

Also how did I only get a 2% bump?
Looking at the scripts there is one that says a 1%-2% if after 01/01/1941 AND one that says a
4%-6% if after 06/22/1941. I presume they are cumulative as there is a 3rd for 1%-2% for after 01/01/1942.

The only way I could get 2% is if I got the minimum 5% (1+4) and lost 3% somewhere, presumably the Isolationist bug (which I didn't get a
pop-up for this turn)

The 4-6% script fires if the USSR has entered the war, so if the USSR is still neutral then the 2% bump would be right.

The Isolationist script would produce a pop up. I've replied in the other thread about that but I'll post it here too:

Hi

I'm sorry but from looking at the script, the wrong position is being targeted and therefore if there are two US naval units on the map*, this unfortunately has a 35% chance of happening.

It will not fire if any units are further east of 187,92, nor if any are placed in LOOPS, so to avoid it happening further in your game I would suggest sending at least one naval unit via the LOOP off the US east coast to the Red Sea or Persian Gulf. They could then stay there and be sent back to the North Atlantic if desired when the US enters the war.

Alternatively, or additionally, if this has fired a lot then at an appropriate moment your opponent could declare war on the USA in order to bring the game back into line with the correct timeline, i.e. where it would have been had the script not fired unnecessarily, as sending ships out to 29 along the Y axis should be safe, but no further.

*Note that transports count as naval units, so be careful if preparing expeditionary forces too.

The USSR has been at war since late spring 1941.

Is the 4-6% a one time increase, or permanent?

This is happening too in my latest game vs the Allied AI. Every turn from at least (as far as I can remember) early July 41, the event has popped up. As far as I can tell, US units are all at home.

I've reached Pearl Harbor, the US are still only at 85-6% mobilization. I'm going to declare war on them to follow the historical timeline.
Will this be fixed with the next patch?

Thanks.

Yes, the patch is currently in beta so all being well, it'll be released soonish, though only new games will benefit.

That said, if you are playing the AI you can always turns scripts on/off.

Thanks, Bill. Declaring war on the USA did the trick.
