I'm not sure but I think this area is a little bit south of the previous image and shows that the Romanians are active
now and they are spreading out and contesting the river crossings and there's some German units down there to stiffen
up the Romanians. And provide the assistance to get across the first major river. I'm going to use the German units
as the reserve down south and let the Romanians do most of the work.

I flew some fighters to the closest point I have to Sevastopol and measured the range arc and I'm still falling short
of having some escorts for the Stukas that will go after the Soviet BB(s) near Sev. sometime in the future. The BB's
aren't showing up on my radar yet. I need some of those airfields near Odessa for better recon into the Sev. area.

I'm contesting the river crossings and have already breached in a couple of places so things are looking up.

EDIT: That Soviet ship showing up is a med. naval vessel.

I found some Romanian fighters with range far enough to escort the Stukas but they are only biplanes and late 1930's
model planes and won't be of much good. Maybe for bait. I'm wondering how they would perform against the Soviet
I-153's and I-16's and especially the Mig-3 that could possibly be based nearby. The air shock penalty for the Soviets
is substantial and might make up the difference needed for the escort mission to work right now.

To illustrate how much sub par the two Romanian models are I'm comparing the ME-109 against them and you can see that
both of them leave a little bit to be desired. BUT I think they might just work out all right since the Soviet air
shock penalty leaves them with a shock value of like 30 or so. And mine is like 115 or so.

This is what Minsk looks like now. I've gotten a surround started on the city. And I've engaged several of the key
defenders so they will have a hard time disengaging to defend their flanks. I'll just bring in more units and out-
flank them.

How do those range arcs of fighter wings become visible?

I use the 'i' key to toggle between the different states of visibility.
There's all units range circles, current unit range circle, units invisible, and
just units showing, no range circles at all.

Good hunting.

Hi larry, good to see you trying again. I began too and if you look better you will see that now Ju87 are shorter range than fighters so you will have to wait before attacking boats with them and not much are received each turn. I will continue to follow you!

Thank you for the hint, Larry. And good work with the AARs!

Yes, the Stukas don't reach out as far as they used to and I'm going to have to come up with
a change to my tactics and wait until the front lines have advanced to at least Pskov to
bomb the BB's. And I'm happy that you have begun a game too. Sure you don't want to do an
AAR so I can keep up with your progress and post helpful hints? Doing an AAR makes you
consider your moves more in depth because you're going to publish what you've done. At least
that's what happened in my case. And that way you'll have a document ( the thread ) that
will provide a record for you in case you need to refer back to some piece of information.

Thank you for your kind words. I'll try to make it more entertaining. And more real life
pictures to help the immersion process.

A tank crew from the 10th Panzer take a smoke break while their tank is being fueled. This is the kind of weather that
they typically see and the days are warmer than usual since it's July but cooler weather helps the engines so the crew
is looking forward to getting to Leningrad and taking it down.

Here's an element of the 17th Panzer division just southwest of Minsk fighting their way around the southern surburbs
to make it to the east side of the city to finish the surround before the take down. They have been on the job for
about a week now and are getting better at it.

Here's the T5 front lines before I have moved anybody. Most of the progress is being made in the south.

This is what it looks like around Riga right now. I haven't moved anybody yet so there's all kinds of possibilities
for this turn. I'm going to expand, spread out, and press to the northeast.

On the east side of Minsk we see where the 1st and 2nd Brandenburgers are guarding river crossings and are dug in and
awaiting relief from the west. There's some Soviet units that are trying to get away from the tidal wave bearing down
on them and they may have to force their way across the river. Maybe somewhere else.

And down south I'm fully engaged in joisting with the Stalin Line and I've got some leg infantry that I'm going to
insert into the left flank of the Soviets to see if I can roll up their lines and destroy them.

You are not supposed to use the river patrol boats forward to cut off supply. They are provided to convert hexes so Soviet units do not appear/reconstruct in the rear area. I guess I should have mentioned that in the briefing. Thanks

I'm not positive but I think I have cut all the Soviet LOC's for Minsk to the rest of Russia. So the supply and
replacements aren't forthcoming anymore for the Soviets. This is a good thing for when the serious assualts start.

And here I thought maybe I had some brown water boats to strafe the river banks with. Alrighty then, I'll pull them
back and use them for recreation for the troops.

I'm approaching the cull-d-sac of the river near Orsha. The Soviets look like they have always been there, all dug in and
ready for the first wave. My boys are starting to tire and some of them could use some refit as there have been
stragglers every time a unit moves. One here and one there. So a one-turn rest can do wonders for a unit.
