corps vs armies

Fury Games has now signed with Matrix Games, and we are working together on the next Strategic Command. Will use the Slitherine PBEM++ server for asynchronous multi-player.

corps vs armies

Post by fulcrum28 »

i have spent a nice time playing this great game, but i have some questions/concerns:

what is the meaning of armies in this game? We have corps and armies. In case blue scenario, for example, the Sevastopol siege, has the 14th German army but also two corps. The names of these two corps are the same as the corps that formed the 14th German army. Are the armies just a density of local air support/artillery rather than a mobile force in this game? and the mobile force represented by corps?

Second, the tanks/panzer units represent corps or armies?. Again, in case blue, the German have 4 units of Panzer only. They seem Panzer gruppen.

Third, in the png units for each major army, we have light tanks units, but where/how can we build light tanks?

It is fun game, but only main concern is when several lines of troops(traffic) are formed, because of the lack of stacking option. Then, it losses some realism perhaps. But it has a nice AI, probably because the lack of stacking makes easier to write the scripts.

Army/corp/Garrison are your stacking. It's just a bit more abstracted.

I think the tank units are supposed to be corp size but I'm not sure.

Light tanks are a special unit only available to a select few (USSR/Spain/Poland). Their tech cap at 3 (I think) and they can't get that 2 strike from Armored warfare.

Light Tanks = overpriced Cavalry

Not quite, Cavalry has the "soft" unit type, which is substantially more vulnerable than the "light armour" unit type
