Dan has too many hexes in Korea that are clear terrain to defend. If you can kick him out of Keijo, he will need major DS intervention. Are your kamikazes ready to fly en masse??

John--You hit the nail on the head. I get super frustrated because I have 45 minutes to run the turn and--at max--about 45 minutes to do orders before life seriously intrudes. Dan--I love the man to death--takes 4-5 hours on his turns. If I had been able to buy my Subway Franchises then I might have the same delightful situation. That didn't work out and so I have to 'get my turns done' and out ASAP. This is not a rant. It is total and complete jealousy of Dan's situation vs mine.

You seem to have still some kind of real life ? [:-] Might not be the right game for you then [:(]

And more on topic a suggestion, you could post for key battles or ones that are suprising a complete combat report. I know most find these boring to read, but give a clearer picture.

Eg. I would be interested to know in above carrier action how many of allied DBs got through compared to TBs and the overall numbers etc. I also noted that 18 TBs were lost to AA while only 1 DB. Seems to indicate the IJN ship flak at this time can actually shoot down many low level planes....[X(] Edit, but one needs a CR, as to see how many TB/DB got through the cap to assess the AA shooting at all. If only 1 DB got through for example, also only 1 could be shot down by AA...

However everyone plays a different version so the results of actions often cannot give us hints to our own game we play [:(] Perhaps in this mod IJ AA is "beafed up" ? As one other said above the asw also got a bonus ? I just dont know and cannot read every change log of every mod everyone plays [:D] As it seems I must also deal with real life issues [8|]

Eg. I noted in a Lowpe AAR that his AA values were still "old" ones when he posted a tracker shot of AA weapons. I wondered then if I had "beefed up" the 40mm Bofors too much in silver scen. However it is already a bit lower in silver then the source for mod which was the "latest" (so was said in forum) scen2. Which btw. also had still most armor/tank values wrong. Also in the Lowpe screenshot it showed 2 Bofors with totally different values in the same version? There was no big difference between a Dutch, US or British Bofors asfaik - or am I wrong[&:] The same is true for Oerlikon guns, the German ones were roughly the same as the Allied ones for example.

Edit, well one could argue later Bofors for example are more effective as for more training, on the guns, better firecontrol etc. But in general Bofors = Bofors. And the Allies get a firecontrol bonus somehwere in 43 I believe?

We are running a DaBabes AA model. The Mods are all based from DaBabes and so that provides a base for the AA side.

I've really tried to step-up the Operational tempo over the last week's worth of turns and I bet Dan is really scratching his head. We've been using MTB--PT--E-Class ships to probe the Allied shipping at or near Genzan. There has been some success!

Here are the hexes/locations where the IJA has attacked and won battles over the last 7-10 days:

Image

PINK is China Battles
RED is Korean
BLACK are hexes we're trying to take back.

You can cross Kaifeng off that list as Japan takes it back on March 13th.

A damned Japanese sailor's dream comes true when a STF finds an Allied CVE TF at Shanghai. It goes OK but there is a damned big BRIT that occupies most of the Japanese's gunnery attention. Five CVE are hit and two a smacked pretty good. CL Ceylon is beaten up for the about 5th to 6th time in this war but, as normal, survives... Japan loses four DDs.

You wanted it. You will get it.

The DIVINE WIND moves into six or seven AFs and is ordered to fly tomorrow. Hundreds of DB and TB are given normal orders for their specialty. It will be bloody but maybe we can overwhelm the Allied defenses. I've bombers ordered for 1,00 Ft, 30,000 Ft, and 11,000 Ft. We'll strength, strike, pray, and sacrifice a cat to see ANY damage occur!

Am leaving to spend time with my Mother. She is back in the hospital and so no turns Sat--Sun--Mon.

OK. Home and now running turn next turn.

Dan is gone through tomorrow taking his youngest back to school.

My prediction is 400 lost planes, 200 lost Allied aircraft, and no hits scored...

March 15, 1945

The Japanese aircraft lift off from all sorts of different bases and fly unerringly to Gunzan, KOREA. For the day a total of 390 Fighters escort in 126 Attack Aircraft. They are met by a CAP of 268 Allied Fighters.

My assault is three times more effective then predicted. Meaning a total of THREE hits. DD irving is hit by a 2EB Kami, an APA takes an 800 Kg Bomb, and an LST is rammed by a Kaye.

Strikes

AM
69 F 22 TB
54 F 23 B 3B get through and hit DD Irving
87 F 12 TB 4TB get through
45 F 25 DB 8DB get through and hit APA
31 F 11 TB 9TB get through and hit LST

PM
35 F 6 B
42 F 20 DB
27 F 7 TB

Losses
228 of 390 F for 58.7%
116 of 126 Attack Planes for a whopping 92%

My ATA loss prediction was spot-on for Japan. Unfortunately not-so-much for the Allies...

I have all day to work on this turn. Will take thoughts, suggestions, and commentary.

First idea I have is to SWEEP in the morning phase and have the Attack Planes go in during the afternoon. Don't know but that might help some...

Ugh. Allies lost about 20 fighters. Probably lots of damaged ones but the same could be said about you. A bit of a silver lining here. No matter how stout the defense some bombers always get through. Looks like good, stacked fighters, early detection and plenty of time to get to altitude
