INVADED
Amphibious TF 20 offshore of Lae
Amphibious TF 9 offshore of Singkawang
Amphibious TF 145 offshore of Manokwari
Clark Field, Cagayan, Kukong, Wenchow are also invested.

CHANGED OWNERSHIP
Tawi Tawi is occupied by the Japanese
Japanese forces CAPTURE Temuloh !!!
Japanese forces CAPTURE Talasea !!!
Japanese forces CAPTURE Beaufort !!!

Overall
• No sign of IJN fleet carriers.

• Plenty of sub and anti-sub activity but 99% sound & fury.

• Prince of Wales and Repulse arrived at Cape Town and are entering the yards. 19 days for POW and 42 days for Repulse. POW will also receive AA upgrades beginning January 1st.

West Coast USA, Alaska, Hawaii
• Damned subs are back and throwing torpedoes at our destroyers to mock them.

Pacific
• Those three PBY groups shipped to Pearl Harbor have partially made ready are begun deploying. One to Midway to relieve a PBY-4 group that is on its way to move troops around the Port Moresby area, one to Norfolk Island, and one to either New Caledonia or the New Hebrides. An AVD will arrive at Norfolk Island tomorrow. More seaplane support will have to be scrounged up along with some for NC/NH; AV Langley and AVD Childs are leaving Perth and might get the assignments (Langley to Norfolk and the faster AVD's forward). I will also send a Kingfisher group to Funafuti to plug a gap in our early warning net. The only appropriate Kingfisher groups are at Los Angeles, currently beset by subs and lacking available ASW escorts. Plenty of seaplane support is at Pearl Harbor facing the same obstacles.

• The last of the December 8th convoys heading for the West Coast are almost to the latitude of the Panama Canal. All have been redirected as the prior ones which evaded the enemy subs. Let's see if those routes escape the Empire's attention long enough.

New Zealand, Australia, New Caledonia, New Hebrides, Solomons, Papua New Guinea, New Britain
• Scrambling to get troops out of Lae before the assault tomorrow pushes them into the jungle or worse.

Philippines
• First assault at Clark Field.

• On Mindanao it will be some time before they concentrate forces to begin assaulting Cagayan.

DEI, Dutch new Guinea, Borneo, Malaya
• Enemy troops ashore at Singkawang. There was no bombardment so the bombers all flew out to Tarakan. The Falcon's at Tarakan are making their way to Palembang.

• That IJN SC TF is still near Sorong and is apparently covering for the invasion of Manokwari.

• Add 8 more!

Tomorrow the Dutch medium bombers at Tarakana and the British Hudson's at Kuching will join the B-17's striking at Oil. Recon from Kuching is helping with DL 9/14 at Miri and no fighter opposition lately.

China
• Imperials are moving through rough woods to undermine our defenses east of Sian. I believe we will have enough in place to stop them. They have also begun moving down the from from Nanyang toward Sian. The defenders on that road are in two layers which obey stacking limits to conserve supply. In woods rough terrain that should prove a stout line, even limiting effects of air strikes.

• The CAP at Kukong netted only a couple of Mabel's. The fighters have left and the base forces are hitting the road on foot. More enemy units are arriving so our stay there will be short.

India, Burma, Thailand, Indochina
• No reinforcement of Burma. The priority is fortifying India and Ceylon.

Japan, Korea, Manchuria, Russia
• Subs praying for working torpedoes and willing targets.

Overall
• No info on IJN fleet carriers.

West Coast USA, Alaska, Hawaii
• Either the number of subs off the coast has increased or they have redeployed somewhat. Routing of incoming convoys is delicate. It looks like the 8 destroyers operating out of San Diego are gaining experience.

• This sub is being claimed as sunk but that seems like a stretch to me.

• Lexington and Saratoga are in the same TF with 4x CA and 10x DD. Enterprise has the same escort in anticipation of Yorktown joining her. 3x CA and 4x DD make up an SCTF. An old CL and 2x DD are in port at Pago Pago awaiting assignment.

New Zealand, Australia, New Caledonia, New Hebrides, Solomons, Papua New Guinea, New Britain
• When the assault came at Lae we had only 3 non-combat squads remaining, the rest airlifted out. Rabaul Base Force and Lark Force remnants on the coast of New Britain will finish airlifting tomorrow with 5x Motorized Support for Lark Force left behind. Hopefully they rust before put to use by the invaders.

• The two USN PBY-4 groups at Soerabaja (Ex-Philippines) have moved to Darwin and are airlifting out the RAF air HQ's, to be followed by the few USA support units airlifted from the Philippines. In the near future they will help with air support for Darwin and Port Moresby while substantial units are sea lifted from the US.

• The two P-40E groups at Sydney have taken replacements for the week. They will train and maintain until more are available, air support is available at Port Moresby, or the enemy comes calling if sooner.

Philippines
• The expected air strikes.

DEI, Dutch new Guinea, Borneo, Malaya

Here are the sub kill claims. The Oosthaven one is plausible given the hits achieved in that battle.

Petrel for New Zealand.

They probably have plenty of birds already. [:'(] On topic, I would imagine that any sub on the sunken list is at least knocked out of action and at the moment that is the most important thing.

Yes. I'm thinking about trying to get those floating dry docks out of the DEI to Australia but he has subs aplenty.

Those recon pilots are very geeky and insist on calling their birds airships. Maybe a few weeks escaping through the jungles of Borneo will give them a more practical attitude. They picked a great time to get both airframes shot up.

My editor's spellcheck dictionary is set to US English, so words like "armour" which I use when referring to Japan, British, etc, units gives an error. That makes sense because "armor" is the US spelling. Petrol I didn't think would give an error because there are not two different versions, and when I saw the red underline I thought "have I been spelling that wrong all these years?". I didn't realize "petrol" simply didn't appear in that US English spellcheck dictionary. But "petrel" does! [:D]

Don't worry, the entire staff was flogged. [:'(]

Dinagat is occupied by the Japanese
Japanese forces CAPTURE Kuching !!!
Japanese forces CAPTURE Hollandia !!!
Japanese forces CAPTURE Vanimo !!!

Overall
• Possible sighting of an IJN fleet carrier near Singkawang.

• xAK which fled to Cape Town and have less than about 14,000 mile range are being sent to the Panama Canal to operate in the Pacific as are most tankers. Last game I ran convoys for both supply and fuel to Cape Town to feed convoys to Australia and India. This game I will try to push nearly all fuel and supply for Australia long term through the Pacific SLOC. India can get all fuel it needs from Abadan and 2,200 supply per day average from Aden plus Abadan. All supply from Cape Town will go to India and related theaters. There is one tanker convoy now on route Cape Town to Adelaide carrying 50,600 tons fuel but that will be the last unless plans change.

West Coast USA, Alaska, Hawaii
• The enemy subs are still doing their thing but a couple were at least hit during actions near Hawaii.

• Arizona and Tennessee should pull into Bremerton the day after tomorrow. West Virginia is leaving Pearl Harbor tonight for San Francisco. Nevada and Oklahoma are repairing and upgrading at Pearl Harbor. That leaves Maryland (12/8 knots) and Pennsylvania (15/8 knots) still to depart for San Francisco. That will await completing conversions of 4x APD's to form the bulk of their ASW escort.

Pacific
• We have oilers positioned to trail and support any carrier movements. Tankers have set up one refueling station and more will be established in the coming weeks. In about a week a number of tankers will arrive at Pago Pago where one will unload and the rest will form a tanker farm for the time being.

• Tarawa and Tabiteuea are the only Gilbert Islands seized so far, but Nauru Island and Ocean Island are long gone.

• There have been no contacts with enemy submarines in this area.

• A PBY group will begin searching from Pago Pago tomorrow.

New Zealand, Australia, New Caledonia, New Hebrides, Solomons, Papua New Guinea, New Britain
• All troops evacuated from Salamaua, some to Cairns. Those and some troops from Lae flown to Cairns are now being airlifted into Port Moresby. C Coy NG Rifles is still inland walking to Terapo and will be transported once they make the coast.

• The air transport of the British air HQ's from Java to Darwin is well underway and after them will be the USA and PA air support units. Those units needed will then lift from Darwin to Port Moresby to bolster defenses there. When the PBY-4 operating from Cairns are finished they will move to Darwin and pitch in.

• Tomorrow begins PBY air search from Norfolk Island, albeit with limited air support. The cats at Port Moresby are done with transport duties and will search tomorrow to find KB1. They will soon move to Australia to conserve supply at PM.

Philippines
• The Empire's movements have slowed here. Some units are exiting Clark Field no doubt to R&R in Manila after battle losses.

DEI, Dutch new Guinea, Borneo, Malaya
• Our AA at Singapore continues to shoot down enemy aircraft and damage many more.

• Several times IJN destroyers cleared mines at Singkawang 'the easy way' (unfortunately). Obviously crack crews.

• I did think Kuching would hold for a day or two.

I would beg to differ, that cute little red stack four hexes away to the NE can get there a lot faster, especially if your opponent
has armor and knows how to use it.

I know he has armour in the hex I highlighted (I think at least 2 or 3 units), I suspect he has some armour in the hex you referred to. [:(]
