Suggestion for US & USSR Diplomacy Change

Fury Games has now signed with Matrix Games, and we are working together on the next Strategic Command. Will use the Slitherine PBEM++ server for asynchronous multi-player.

Nope. The only difference is that you can't get that 10% of major increase like you do with minors

The chances are 8-15% to be precise, according to the manual.
The reason is that UK money invested in diplo is usually money that wouldn't be invested in the defense of France anyway (unlike Germany expenditures).

And the french money? Imho not to waste their money or to find better investments than their possibly lost cause is the only reason for uber. Otherwise, I could imagine other opportunities to invest.

Blitz is one possible solution. It could also be a chance for the Axis to waste even more money to counter uber...

Uber bears high risks. If the Brits don`t succeed (which means to achieve more and bigger hits than average), they're probably screwed.

And the french money?

Put things in perspective. Germany investment missing out of more than lvl 1 2 tanks worth. Two additional panzers, that attack twice a turn, that have a real chance of shaving some turns on the date of France surrender. Any combination of additional units France might buy don't have such an impact on the outcome. By waiting in the spring attack you surrender any advantages from the unreadiness of the french army since by spring its army had time to reinforce.

Blitzing probably gets you an extra 5 turn of French income which would recoup operating costs and some of the investment in countering UK Diplochits.

We had that discussion already, but we can repeat it again if you like. [:D]

Has anyone seen Uber Diplomacy in reverse? In other words the game proceeds as usual with no Allied uber diplomacy. Then after the Axis conquer France the Germans and Italians immediately purchase the maximum chits in the USSR. Even if the UK counters with 1 chit a turn (which at 150 MPPS a pop is a big investment at that point of the game) the Axis will get an average of 1.5 hits within the first 5 turns. Thereafter they will average a hit every Axis 7 turns. So has anyone done the math to determine if, on average, the Axis can keep Russia out of the War until the late spring (April or May) of 42? I would try this in a future game; but I'm pretty sure I would get below average luck.

Yes, I've got something like this happening in one of my games, I'm the allies and my axis opponent did a late 1940 Sealion (preceded by heavy air attacks), and has invested both Germany and Italy heavily into both diplo and tech. I've seen Axis diplo hits against Spain, USA AND USSR and it's still only early 1941... The British are very short of MPPs due to Sea Lion (and defending against Axis activity in North Africa), so have not had much available for countering diplomatic action by the Axis (nor much for tech after Sea Lion was apparent). On the plus side the Royal Navy has sunk both German starting Battlecruisers and two Heavy Cruisers, despite Germany having teched-up naval. He also seems to have sent the majority of the Regia Marina into the Atlantic to bolster what's left of the German fleet, though.

just playing a game... Germany invested 175mpp in one chit on Russia
that one chit made a 14% jump leaving Russia with 4% mobilization

that is not gambling, that is a game changer. Russia is getting 9mpps every turn now.
Of course I can counter now. First I had to wait because GB had to see where it is invested. USSR or USA. Now I can do something but if I'm unlucky GB can counter and France will be conquered before there are any hits.

Actually I would prefer NOT to know when my opponent invests (graphs). That's the part of gambling I like. Being forced to check the graphs every turn to see what my opponent is doing takes away a big strategical part of the game. I would remove the diplo/tech investment graph.

USSR and USA should only be affected by events and DOWs. I would also remove these countriey in the diplo screen.

Just my opinion... don't see it as "whining". I can live with it but that way the diplo game is a bit boring (check-counter-check-counter...). Guessing and waiting would add a thrill to the game.

Note forth coming change in v1.16:

- Successful diplomacy against Majors will now move them only 4-8% towards your side, and the cost of a chit has consequently been reduced from 175 to 150 MPPs.
- Successful diplomacy against Minors can move the targeted country 4-24% towards your side.

I find the potential outcomes of current and future Major Country diplo to be completely unrealistic. At least there should be a minimum SU mobilization (say 10-15%) and it shouldn't be possible to keep the US out of the war for extended periods past December 7, 1941. The largest issue is the Allies cant counter when the Axis get the large plunder from France. Unless of course the Brits don't spend anything for the 4-5 turns before the fall or aggressively invest 175 pts (150)per turn.

Having said that I don't care if others want to play a game of Major Country Diplo.

I specify to my opponents I don't care to play games with MCD and I'd say only 2-3% object.

A logical remedy would be when the game is set up to have an option to toggle MCD on or off. Then players could play either way.

The addition of a comment section when setting up a PBEM game would also be useful with this issue and others (NA/DAK ,et al issues). This is long over due.

I too would like to see an option for no major power diplo (or optionally phrased: minor diplo only).
However the change to ~6% shift per hit does make it significantly less tempting to try.
