Did you modify anything, anywhere?

I opened the company02.oob file with Notepad++ and line 34 appears to store the mortar platoon of an italian alpini formation.
Here's what I read (line number is for your reference)

(L33) 42 09 43 03 P02206 Machinegun Platoon
(L34) 42 09 43 03 P02101 Mortar Platoon
(L35) 42 09 43 03 P02033 Wagons

I have no idea.
Which version are you using?
Have you tried to download the files/installer again before installing the game? A corrupt file may have crept in at some point.

now the OOB editor works for west front and rising sun, just not east front.
im stumped.
i have version 2.02 going.
i sometimes wish that i could just go back to the original, when you could still generate a map without having to create a scenario.

It's rather strange. Is this the only issue that arises?
Opening the Russian OoB in the editor for 1942 (as a test), the program said that some units were missing, but I could still play around with it. No issue with the other nations.

You can create a map without creating a scenario.

Just open the map editor, set the size you want and start placing your hexes.

That's how I build all my maps.

yeah...but the old system let you generate a random map from scratch.
i used that for a base and then i filled in what i wanted for the map.
i did that for a Mount Suribachi Iwo Jima scenario years ago for rising sun.
but, Jason, since you are the moderator, any help for my OOB problem mentioned above?

i have a LOT of order of OOB errors.
i just tried removing company002 from the main folder and more errors popped up from company and battalion level and such.
i have NO idea what the matter is with my east front OOB.
West front and rising sun load up with no issues.
only east front.

Have you downloaded any scenarios packs in addition to the regular installation?

There may have been oob file that was added by accident.

It seems weird that East Front OOB's are so buggy, as they shouldn't be with 1.02.

I would recommend to completely uninstall the game and Reinstall.

I would recommend to completely uninstall the game and Reinstall.

Not only that, ensure you delete the installation folder in case there are any remnants in there that are being found, which could cause some issues.

1. Uninstall

2. Delete the Campaign Series folder

3. Reinstall

4. ADD the 1.02 UPDATE

5. Try again.

I understand exactly how you feel. That's why I use two laptops for JTCS: On one I have the 1.02 version where I create my maps (I really like the sliders), and on the other one I have the 2.02 where I finalize everything and play the game.

I think you can't get the 1.04 anymore... the last time I had looked all you could get was the 1.03 or the 2.02 Update.

just want to say thank you to everyone here.
i got the OOB to load up when i play.
i still think that Campaign Series is STILL one of the best wargames, though very dated, one of the best.
Looking forward to CS: East Front III and West Front II and Pacific Front.
They cant get released fast enough for me.
