Why the k18 support battalions are equipped with the 105mm gun and not the 170mm gun? the 170mm is present in the game but is not produced although the production is in 1939. Sorry for my english.[:)]

Kanone (K) (Cannon, Field Cannon, or Gun) formations are used for counter-battery and long-range point targets (structures, fixed defenses, armored-concrete firing positions) Fuze preference is for impact detonation. Much greater range than high trajectory howitzer/mortar fire used to suppress dug-in area targets. Cannon fire uses ammo with higher penetration capabilities; Howitzer ordnance will often have higher blast/shrapnel features and uses fuzes designed to detonate before impact.

Afrika Korps received majority of early production 17 cm cannon. Desert warfare offered better possibilities for long-range direct fire. In theory 17cm cannon batteries were developed for deployment with 21 cm Mrs 18 battalions for counter battery fire. Often integrated with 15 cm cannon (K) battalions for concentrated counter battery fire. Was also considered as eventual dedicated successor to 15cm (K) gun batteries.
