How to return a lent plane

Hi,

The US player has lent a fighter to CW which has been shot down and so is again in the CW force pool. I'd like to take it back (in order to lend it to China now), but I am unable to do it. How to proceed? I tried to follow the instructions from the user manual (vol.2, p56) but it does not work: when the US player clicks on his plane during the production step, nothing does happen [8|].

If China could get it, it should be on the form beside China and have a green bar on it. IIRC the 4-8 China can get is not available until 1940. Also it does not look like the CW has any of the planes that China can get.
