Sales are not quick to reply in most cases but hang in there and you will get a digital download sorted out eventually. And yes, no formal digital download option in this day and age is just plain stupid, a missed business opportunity - something I have emailed Decision Games about before.

Yes I agree, they seem a bit on the slow side. My friend how bought the CD of Omaha waited something like 20 days before it got to Europe/house! I also e-mailed them about the download and what games would work on Win-10 (WolfPack, RAF) right after the post, but also, no news yet.

Well, I will say they are very accommodating and made getting a digital download very easy. I don't see why they just don't offer the option. Had I not read it here I never would have thought to asked, I just saw shipping and thought, no thanks.

So I got the game and will dive into what I'm sure is a steep learning curve later.

So the computer version is supposed to be like the board game, with an AI phase so you are not playing both sides like we do in World in Flames.

You are correct, no need to do any work for the Japanese side. They will kill you on automatic [X(]

Well, the map is very crisp and clean, the units looks sharp and it's all easy to read. You can zoom way out or way in. Gameplay is good and I did not encounter any bugs or crashes, it will not let you proceed to the next phase if you forget something, so that's cool.

Then there is the WTF is going on factor. Lots of trial and error. The manual is written for the board game not the PC. So there are things the PC version does automatically and then there things you have to do, like place units into LVT's just adding LVT's to the stack does not load the troops...wading to the beach is not fun! [:-]

I've only played a few turns, it's not easy to figure out what exactly happened. I'm still in the very early learning phase.

Watching the video is really helpful, because the game just plays the Japanese turn so fast it's hard to understand what's happened. Watching board game play everything is fully explained.

Well, I love the board game look and play. Using 1920x1200, which is not wide by today's standards. There may be ways to slow down the Japanese turn, as it would be helpful to see what the enemy did to you. So, still interested, especially if Red gets a response. Thanks!

I agree it is hard to keep track of Japanese actions. I find being at mid-way zoom to be best before starting Japanese phase. Then there are markings on hexes of actions taken, like mortar strike, tank that moved, resupply etc. Then there is a log to review actions also.

I'm loving this game. So I'm playing and I'm winning close combat, I'm disrupting the enemy and I'm thinking this is not so bad, I thought this game was supposed to be brutal. Then around turn 7 the Japanese unleash Hell on me. Event card removes all Japanese disruption! My guys are at one step, getting over run, it's a blood bath!

I noticed in the video the guy is keeping Eng together. Is that the best option? I'm thinking they should be more useful stacked with infantry.

IIRC engineers add power to close combat, so that would benefit stacking with infantry. But you want to take special care for the SP "support" guys as they are absolutely vital in the long game for garrisons etc.

It's hard to find the balance. I played 10 turns and lost then it went into the more advanced game but I don't understand CP's, garrisons and stuff like that yet so I ended my game. I need to win the first 10 before moving on.

This game is truly brutal. You can lose the game on turn one. I just had a first turn I lost two units before they it the beach several landing with only 1 step left and other had 2-3.

Not good, game over. Nothing much you can do with that sort of carnage. Great game and the landing is always different. Hero's are great though as they give your units a free action and with just 3 actions anything extra really helps.

I'm sort of interested in Omaha now. [:)]
