Gary Grigsby’s War in the West 1943-45 is the most ambitious and detailed computer wargame on the Western Front of World War II ever made. Starting with the Summer 1943 invasions of Sicily and Italy and proceeding through the invasions of France and the drive into Germany, War in the West brings you all the Allied campaigns in Western Europe and the capability to re-fight the Western Front according to your plan.

Torch to Tunisia supply woes

Post by coolts »

Montys 8th army has run out of gas at Sirte allowing the Afrika Korps to escape. The captured ports do nothing.

No Seaborne supply is making it past Bone yet there are no axis controlled sea hexes blocking my ports.

I see Cairo is a nat supply source in this scenario.

Confused I am [&:]

Do you have a savegame for us to check ?
What's the game version ?
Have you changed the supply priorities of port depots along the eastern african coast?

Out of transport range. Nearest airbase is Benghazi and the port has guess what? Zero supply

File attached (.sav changed to .txt). Latest steam version 1.01.68

All front line ports & depots @ 4 or 3 and then 2, 1, or 0 for way back. Nat supply sources set to 0.

I must have done something daft or this scenario is unwinnable surely? I may as well take 8th army back to Egypt then ship them to Algiers! [&:]

You have disabled the depot in Alexandria. You shoudn't have done this as it's a port source depot, responsible for shipping-out freight arriving from Cairo.
Still strange nothing arrived from Gibraltar/America - insufficient shipping ?

Ah, I'll check that.
I'll open a fresh game and check for shipping from Gibraltar. I assumed none was coming due to axis controlled sea hexes around Sicily but there aren't many at all.
