Airbase Support Levels

Post by GamesaurusRex »

Looking at the Russian airbases, they show a support level of xxx/xxx (AV xxx).

For example: I have a Russian IAB base with 6 air units assigned (20 planes each).

The base support level shows "Support/Need 231/93(AV79)".

What is the correct interpretation of this info ? I understand the 231 is the available support.

Is the 93 the inherent base support need and the AV79 the aircraft support need ?

Does this mean the total base need is 93+79 = 172 total need ?

If not, what is the correct way to read this info ?

Thanks in advance for reply.

Whats the impact - if there is one - if need > support ? Is that compensated by an Air HQ in the same hex ?

Generally you will have more planes damaged/ lost/ not repaired. This tends to be the losses you see in the logistics phase. I believe admin rating of HQs reduce such losses. So If you move a Luftflotte/army group/OKH HQ nearer to an airbase in a fliegerkorps the ratings checks for that should improve.

I have an airbase right now, after moving aircraft to it via air transfer, which has the following numbers:

Support/Need: two four nine slash one one ten bracket two three three bracket. So the AV value is higher than the total.

Sorry for writing it like that but the forum seems to think I am trying to post phone numbers instead and will block my post.

Anyways, how does the explanation above fit these numbers?

The AV number is updated when you move aircraft in and out of the airbase - the other one is the value at the start of the turn only. So if you move in enough aircraft to the base you have an AV support need greater than the total need you had at the beginning of the turn.

It seems like in one of the recent patches, they significantly reduced the support needed for German LBs. There are no more overloaded ABs at game start.
