Possible oil issue

Post by Majorball68 »

Has anyone notice that if you use saved oil for production you get the production benefit but the saved oil is not expended?

I am still playing 1 game in 2.3.4 and couldn't figure out how the CW player was able to save 30+ oil in the UK mid 1940 despite not having full CP's in place. The German player also benefited by this as well.

I havn't tested it on the latest version but was curious to know if other players had noticed this in the current version. As a work around the CW player sent oil direct to factories rather than saving them and then sending them to a factory.

To investigate this I will need a saved game and instructions on how to reproduce what you describe.

I haven't noticed but just went back to a game when I used a saved oil in Barrow for CW production. That saved oil is still there.

I'll see if I can dig a save up before that.

Went back and confirmed the bug. Sure enough, the Barrow oil point used for production is not consumed.

You have to advance farther in the sequence of play. Not a bug.

The units for Saved Oil Points are recalculated at the end of Production. This enables merging old saved oil with any new ones added to the hex. It also eliminates those units where no saved oil remains in the hex and creates new units if there were no Saved Oil Points in the hex already.

Part of the reason this is done so late in the sequence of play is because both sides (all major powers/players) perform Production at the same time. In NetPlay games, there has to be a single computer generating any new units resulting from Production (saved oil points, build points, pilots, offensive chits, etc.) for all major powers. That's essential to keep all the unit numbers for the newly created units identical on all computers.

Sorry for the false alarm. [:(]

I advanced the attached game past production and to the factory destruction phase. The oil point at Barrow was gone.

Its is happening in 2.3.4 hence my reason for not pursuing further given it might not be happening in later versions. We were playing well into the next turn and the oil wasn't consumed. We worked around it buy sending the oil direct to a factory from the resource rather then using a saved oil. Will monitor and post if necessary.

The conditions to recreate this issue is to have oil arriving into the UK say from Venezuela and saving it rather than sending direct to a factory. Then choosing a saved oil in the UK and sending that to production. So in my particular game there was 19 of 22 factories in production, 4 oil was being saved by the UK and 3 of this was sent to factories to max production at 22 so there is 1 net oil left over. The stockpile of oil for the CW should have went from 25 oil to 26 oil(4-3 =1 left). However it went from 25 oil to 29 oil start of next turn indicating the 3 oil sent to factories were not consumed..
