Here's the front lines in the north right now. The lines are broken, splintered
actually, and the fighting is making units evaporate, especially Soviet units.
My arty is holding them back for the most part but there's places on the front
lines that I don't have much arty and those places are usually the places where the
Soviets breakthroughs occur. I've got two divisions that were evaporated and the
only thing left is the HQ unit and I've decided to move them to the place where
the replacement division is going to spawn just to get them away from the front lines
so they can rest.

About a third of the planes are yellow and there's two red ones. That indicates to me
that my aircraft are putting out, doing their jobs, and I might be driving them a tiny
bit too hard. All the fighters are on three dot settings, the bombers are two dots and
those planes that I'm not making any more ( Do-17's ) are on single dots. Or should be.
I may have missed one.

I'm worried about all the weak spots and the potential breaks they will produce soon. I
don't have a reserve anywhere and these breaks are a major hassle getting the invading
unit cornered before it gets into my backfield. I have two Soviet units that I'm
chasing down as we speak.

Here's the Stalino area down south right now. The lines are getting confused and need some organization really badly.
The Soviets and I aren't sure who is dominate just yet. I'm slowly getting a handle on things here.

I lost an element of the Slovak security division and there's been enough time for
it to be listed on the expected reinforcements list if it's coming back and so far
it's not been listed. I think it is gone for the rest of the game. I'm guessing
the Slovak units don't respawn at all. Maybe none of the Axis minors do. I've got
to be more careful with them if that's the case.

I zipped up a T49 saved game file and attached it here below
for those of you who want to review all the reports and
check out the conditions of various places. Maybe move
some units around.

Okay, I admit that I haven't moved the riverine units for a while and now that I've gotten around to it I find that
the river has frozen, trapping my boats where they are until the next spring. If I get forced back exposing the
boats they could get killed. I'll have to keep that in mind.

I'm moving the Rumanians out and the Bulgarians in and the surplus Rumanians will go
to other front lines further to the east in what I consider "topside" where the
Crimea is "below" the rest of Russia.

It's the Soviet turn and they are going through the first round of what is going to
be probably four rounds and I've just now discovered that near Leningrad the front
lines are within range of the Soviet CD guns near the port of Leningrad. This is
really bad news. It means I need to bring up some arty of my owm and shoot back.

These are the kind of messages I've been seeing from all over the front. My boys
are tired and worn out and just can't stand up to the front lines any more. I've
been fighting too far forward in very low supply areas and as we see that won't
work. I'll have to pull back to a good supply area and let the Soviets advance into
their low supply areas.

Okay, I pulled the trigger and my combats were resolved and then it became the
Soviet turn and they did their moving and attacking and moving and attacking and
it turns out thare were about 300 battles and lots of my units evaporated and lots
of them retreated and it's obvious to me that breaking them down into pieces isn't
working. Or at least I can't make it work. So I'll have to pull back and try to
shorten the lines to give me enough whole units to stand the front lines with.

All of my RR engrs are reorganizing at the same time, which is disconcerting to say
the least. I'm going to miss a turn moving them to a new spot. I've disembarked
them to use the rail cap for something else. I'll have to embark them again to move
'em. There's not a whole lot of repairing going on lately and I'm not sure why. Is
it the bad weather, the cripling cold? Enquiring minds want to know.

This is typical of what's happening to my beautiful units. They are being gutted like
fish. I'm going to have to pull everybody back to better supply areas and try to
form a new front line with what's left. Especially in the south where the supply
level is so low. The Soviet Winter Offensive is in it's second turn now and they are
pushing really hard, so hard that I've seen as many as a dozen Soviet units evaporate
during the combat phases. Three-dot attacks into the face of my arty.

Kharkov is an oasis toward the south where the confluence of several railroads
cross and the supply level zooms up to 13 or so. Which is a lot more than
some areas are getting. I really need the rails to be repaired in this
direction. This means I need to review the RR engineer priorities.

Here's what's going on around D-town and Z-town right now. The supply level has
collapsed and isn't high enough to support combat operations so I've started a
general pullback to an area with warfighting capability supply levels. Which
may be quite a ways I'm guessing. The railroads haven't been built out this
direction very far and it shows. I hate to have to fight for this terrain all
over again but that looks like what I'm going to have to do.

"Yeah I KNOW" ( My Rachael Ray immitation ). The Soviet Witer Offensive has caught me
with my pants down. I wasn't expecting such a hard push. They spent about 1/3 of their
forces getting the upper hand. I'm trying to hold the losses down and THIS happens....

Here's the moves of turn 50 and as you can see I'm pulling out and the Soviets are
pushing the rearguard units backwards. I'm not sure how far back to pull back but
supply levels are going to be one of the factors.

Take the Crimea and you free up a hell of a lot of units for use north of the peninsular if you need them........any prospect of that?

I've done the hard part and taken Sevastopol already, so it's in the mop up phase right
now. I've moved the Bulgarians into positions around the Soviet remnants and expect to
have dispatched them pretty soon now.
