Winter weather - Western and Southern Europe

Post by Darth Vader »

Hi Guys,

Just a point I wish to make. I have never lived in North Africa, or Southern France during the winter, but do they have blizzards there? Could we not make the Italian front and Western Front HQs, and maybe the HQs in Germany, not suffer from the Russian winters? ie make them into build up area status, which if I remember correctly, lessons the effect of the winter blizzards, on units?

Unless I am dreadfully wrong, which is entirely plausible, the blizzard rule of 1941 only applies to the Axis units east of Warsaw (p.31 of the Manual). Besides, the units of the Western and Italian Fronts suffer less readiness loss as they are within HQs. Moreover, it is extremely unlikely, if not outright impossible, that any of these two Fronts would shatter in any turn other than 'Clear' weather.

Thanks for the reply. You could well be right, I have not checked out the effect of the winter weather in 3.3, in Western and Italian fronts, in detail anyway. But I'am sure in older versions, winter weather did have an effect on units in these HQs.
