Coloured Toolbar

Post by Jason Petho »

We will be including an optional coloured toolbar in the 2.01 UPDATE.

Thank you to zoikkis, that is a great idea.

Great to hear this, and understand that the original thread had to be removed.

Glad to hear that, kinda liked the buttons grouped by color. Thank you.

My bad folks, I just wasn't thinking of it as hacking, my apologies.

I didn't think it was hacking either, but couldn't get it to work anyway [8|]

But how nice the devs will pick this up. Another example of great support for this game. Although we did have to be patient waiting for 2.0!+

From Dev Forum:

Here goes: MERDC Toolbar. Emphasis on darker MERDC colors, for with buttons colored with lighter colors (for instance Sand) the White / Yellow icons are hard to see.

What do you think?

I've based the CS color schemes for each title with historical camo schemes, and Middle East and Vietnam will fall nicely into MERDC era. Middle East scheme is Field Drab / Sand, while Vietnam is Dark Green / washed out Dark Green.

So these Toolbars would fit those games nicely, and as a bonus they would remain similar (except for the background color under the buttons).

Edit: Not familiar with MERDC camo scheme? Here's one of the many modeling pages explaining it.

This looks really good! Palette fits into theme nicely, colours are not too strong but still easily distinguishable between different groups. Makes a big difference compared to the original.

Also, big thanks for the devs for listening out and making these changes. Really looking forward for the upcoming games to this series!

Putting together a color scheme that looks cohesive and natural was quite a struggle for me until I thought perhaps the military had solved this all for me already, with their official camo pattern standards etc. And so it proved to be! One of my better moments to take a time out to dig into that world for sure [:)]
