Is the game native to Windows 10?

Post by dfz1 »

Will I be able to install and run the game under Windows 10 without messing around with compatibility modes or editing and moving files?

all you may have to do, is add some older files which the game may need, eg part of the pre requisites etc, which either come with the game or windows 10 etc

Image

as you can see, this is my test machine for windows 10 testing, it has more than a few older files loaded, as each game of a given age comes with a given pre requisites, which that given game needs to run, 9 out of 10 times, the game comes and part of the installer, installs it, so as long as you let it, that's fine, game will work, but some games on windows 10 need legacy drivers, eg certain versions of a given file, which by default windows 10 has, but not enabled, if the game works, you dont need to do anything, if it doesn't, one or 2 things will or would need enabling, which is common on backwards compatibility with windows 10, some even need media player as the default or installed to work, while others don't, this is part and parcel of getting even the most modern of games working with the latest O/S, most don't have to, some do, so it's hit and miss tbh

others are in windows but need adding, and then there's the pain of some windows 10 games, which just don't like the newer bits that windows 10 has added, and most users just don't use either, so i call it bloatware

and just disable them by default, as i'll never use them or want to use them either, and as they can and do stop some latest games from working from time to time, there worth isn't worth the effort of finding it's the game i'm on atm, so just press off on everything here, then i have no issues, then again i also use the default windows AV and firewall and install everything as run as admin, install as admin, which always sets up the correct file and permissions for everything for me, so tend to not have the issues some do with windows 10 and gaming.

if game works, which for most (99%) user it does, you won't have to touch anything, if it's an upgrade from a older versions of windows, you also may or may not have to, it all depends on certain factors and far to many to guess at a 100% answer also, so it's rule of thumb, yes it's a windows 10 fully compatible game, but that's not to say it will work right out of the box / install on everyone pc, as who knows what a given user has installed and running which may or may not conflict with a given item.

That's regardless of you being the only user:
Open the game installation folder.
Locate and select a file named "autorun.exe".
Press the right mouse button and select Properties.
Click on the Compatibility tab. Tick the option Run this program as an administrator.
Run the game from the desktop shortcut.

It seems that the answer to the OP is no. There's a lot of editing in this discussion. I remember reading over a year ago that AGEOD was working on a new engine. Obviously, they haven't finished. Is there any kind of time frame for completion? Games that come out in 2018 really should be able to run on Win 10 without a bunch of system alteration IMO.

all what i have put has nothing to do with the engine, but windows 10 itself, as many games still have to input something from above either manually or as part of the installer, so it's nothing new or just for windows 10, windows 8, 7 and all others before it had pre requisites
