When the game first came out, a couple guys wrote a few spreadsheets that broke down the various combat ships down, especially useful was the destroyer SS, that listed stats for each ship.

It was especially useful for determining what kind of role to use them in, ie: AA for CV TF's, Surface Fleets, bombard TF, or if they were just plain useless.

Anyone still have these around?
