Old PBEM game not appearing in V1.12

I have just updated to 1.12 beta & my current Fall Weiss II game is not showing in my PBEM ongoing game screen. This also happened when I installed V 1.11 so I reverted back to 1.10.03. Not sure if my opponent is having the same issue but I will ask.

Are you referring to not seeing a Beta v1.10.03 PBEM++ game after upgrading to the official 1.12 version?

Each version (Beta or official) uses its own server and so if you upgraded on top of the Beta v1.10.03 version without keeping and renaming a copy of the Beta v1.10.03 executable, your game will only access the official v1.12 server and not see the Beta server.

There are 2 servers, the normal and the beta.
Having just experienced this, games in the normal will actually force you to update (e.g. from v1.11 to v1.12) when official updates are released.
Games in the beta will get wiped when the developers start working on a new beta (I believe).

If you want to continue playing a beta PBEM game and an official game after an official update, then you will need to copy the exe file, and rename it. Then create a shortcut that executes the renamed file. Then update the regular game. Also note that if your opponent has a STEAM account he may have difficulty keeping the beta as STEAM is likely to force the update.

Generally this is the case.

As Taxman said, new betas will go onto the beta sever so won't affect v1.12 games so you should have time to finish your 7 games (7? that's impressive!)

I'm retired and had had more than enough of wite after playing it continuously since it 1st came out. No criticism of that game.

Having games wiped just because of an update is very annoying. Not very respectful of the players' time [:-]. Am I rifgt in thinking that neither I nor any of my 6 (7 if IG gets going) opponents should ignore any beta updates?

Hi Sillyflower,

Just to confirm, Beta updates as of late do not wipe out current beta games in progress and if you want to continue your Beta games, this is entirely possible and all you have to do is simply not upgrade to the latest v1.12 release as Taxman suggests.

The v1.12 release is an official release and uses a different PBEM++ server, so updating to it will make it look like your Beta games have been wiped out, but they haven't. To play both, simply save a copy of the last Beta EXE of the game, and rename it as Taxman suggested and then if you install v1.12 (if you want the official release as well) then you can run both EXEs side by side and play from both the Beta server and the official server.

Tx but we just restarted them with .12.

When new betas appear, should we ignore them if we want to carry on with the games without any hassle? I have no computer skills and have no idea how to follow Taxman's simple-looking instructions..............
