Display issue

Post by AZKGungHo »

I got the download and installed it fine. A dialog came up and I clicked full screen without picking an actual display size. The game won't run, I get a message saying it won't display.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled it several times, even making sure the folders, etc. were deleted and it's still doing that.

Any ideas?

UPDATE: I tried the two DLC's and they also asked for my video mode, I selected it and they run. But the main game won't.

Yet Another Update. The game doesn't display properly when I load the DLC's. I can't see the bottom of the screen or the sides, so I can't play it. I changed the video settings and it still had the same issues. Sigh - not going well here!

The first time you run each separate part of the program (and get that pop-box where you can select full screen and the screen resolution) is extremely fidgety.

The first time I did it I thought I had a malfunction on my hands, but then I noticed that there was a box with the program name down in the lower left of my screen, and after I clicked on it every thing was fine.

I had to go through that for each game, i.e. three times.

YMMV, I'm running 64-bit Windows 7 Professional.

My advice is try it again, take a deep breath, move very slowly, and keep an eye on what happens in the lower left-hand corner of your screen.

Yet another update.

I got the DLC's to load and play now.

The main game will not even load up to the screen where you can click settings and then change them. Not sure where to go from here.

You might want to take screenshots of what you can and cannot do and post it.

On the surface what you wrote appears to be contradicting itself, and I may not be the only one who finds it confusing.

What do you mean when you say that you can get the DLC's to load and play and the main game will not even load up?

If I had to guess, what I'd think you're saying (but I'm not sure) is that you can get the pop-up from which you launch the three games and their editors, but can't go any farther.

Whoever untangles this might also find it useful to know what kind of operating system you're using.

OK,

I'm running Windows 10, and once you start the game and click Global Conflict Gold I go back to the desktop and this appears:

did you look at the sc2 config file? looks like you can set resolution from there. The file for me is located in "My documents" >My games> Strategic Command Classic WWII> Global Conflict Gold. I'm on Win10 64, plays fine for me at 1920X1080

I got my game running fine. I installed through Steam but the game does show it's age. I feel the battles are a little slow even with quick animation.

Try to install through Steam and maybe it will work in that arena?

That did it - almost!

Once I got into the game menu I had to scroll through the video settings until the full screen button would work and then the game runs fine. If I set it to my native resolution of 1920X1080 I can't see all the screen.

Not sure why that happens, but I've done it all the game and the DLC's and it all works now!

Many thanks for all the help guys!
