I am working on a scenario involving 3 Carrier groups and most of the air forces in the Persian Gulf region...a massive scenario with hundreds of aircraft. The slowdown mentioned is not very much, even with that... and that is probably a larger scenario than most players would even wish for. I think that overall the new build is running faster than before for 99% of the scenarios, and when I plug most of them in and go to the aircraft window, it populates very quickly for nearly all of them.

I do find it strange however that people who enjoy a very complex game such as this, would not know to click on the (+) button [:D]

A man after my own heart. I used to talk about this when people came in looking for help in understanding what folders were in Windows. Its like driving cars...you should have even the most basic understanding of how they work.

I would go for 1. Maybe somewhere in the GUI something should be written along the lines of "Click + to expand the aircraft list" (in the same way that "click for more info" is written). Because, honestly, if people think that the list is unpopulated as it was before 988, after 988 theyre going to wonder why only one list is populated and there are no aircraft of any other type!

OK Dimitris, after a clean reinstall the aircraft in the load out list seems to populate faster than it did with my old install, so I think to get the best of both worlds for veterans and newbies option 3 would be the best choice..... so that would be the way it works in 998.2...

Cheers

For me the best is Option #1 but to help the UI impaired guys the other two are fine, I can live with a little lag time [:D]

THe "+" to expand a subtree seems pretty universal these days, especially to anyone jockying a Windows box...and it's not even like this is the only interface in CMNAO where the "+"/"-" are used for this purpose...

I vote for inter-menu consistency and interface fluidity. Choice #1 for sure

Vote 1 for #1.

Like Andrea G I'm not too bothered when it comes to this, especially if it gives new players a hand.

ExMachina also brings up a good point that this is not exclusive to air ops within CMANO (Scenario Platform Browser and Mission Editor spring to mind), and it's a pretty universal Windows UI scheme.

The improvements #1 would bring for me is that if I have a bunch of different aircraft types I can see their types and quantities at a glance, while at the moment if I have lots of one type of aircraft, I will have to collapse that to see what else there is.

Minor either way, but my choice is #1.

So, three choices:

1) Go Back To The Way We Were (TM): Exactly like the first screenshot. The AirOps window gets shown instantly, and the player must actively click on the "+" to see the detailed list. And someone will have to stick around to explain to newbies what to do. Any volunteers?

^ Gets my vote.
