How to use Maritime Bombers

I'm curious as to how they recon the seas and attack all ship types. Are they effective against BB and CV?

What is the view they reveal?

Their sea recon range is tied to Long range tech. At first they don't see much further than normal planes but all tech up they can spot subs and other ships from quite far. (I think it's +2 per tech level)

They start with higher stats vs ship (and not much vs land and air) even before Naval tech comes into play of course with them they are even more lethal vs ship.

They don't do as much damage to ships as TAC or Medium bombers. However, they get 2 actions and are significantly cheaper than TAC or Medium Bombers.
They also are allowed ASW (in addition to Naval & Range) so are more effective against subs than TAC or MED (or even Fleet CVs).
They also have longer range than Medium Bombers (14 vs. 10) that increases by 2 (vs. 1) for each level of Long Range.
Additionally their Sea Spotting increases by 2 for each level of Long Range as well.

They are very good Recon units (even land recon) for all the above reasons (not the least of which is that they are the least expensive air unit (excluding the US blimp).
They are good for popping ships & subs if they can and don't have more important Recon to do.

It can also be used for ground bombardement. I tried it to finish an enemy unit that was down to strenght 1, and it worked.

I have two of them and one is in Iceland. However, I have no use for it now or I can't send it out? What am I doing wrong with the unit?

De 122 – uk: Deploy a coastal command
maritime Patrol in iceland?
§ event fires: On the 1st January 1942 if the UK is
Allied and not surrendered, and
Reykjavík is in Allied hands.
§ cost of accepting: 100 MPPs (at 50 MPPs a turn
for 2 turns).
§ yes: Coastal Command deploys a Maritime Patrol
at Reykjavik in Iceland. This unit is in Icelandic
service and cannot be Operated for use elsewhere.
