Black screen at main menu

I get a black screen at the main menu. I can see the intro fine but not the menu. I have a voodoo 3500 card and I have tried resolutions from 640x480 to 1024x786 and all possible color depths. I have the most recent drivers installed. Any help would be apreciated. Thanks.

A little more info:I am also running direct-x 7.0.
