HQ - 12 - possible error

Post by Stealth2017 »

Hi,

Could someone look into HQ-12 specifications. I have found several sources claiming that the maximum altitude is 25000 m, which is far more than 14039 m than in the database.

Put it in the database thread with the sources to get the most efficient response.

The HQ-12 is kinda based on the HQ-2 (1+2 =12, get it?) and also supposed to use the same body (albeit shortened thanks to advances in propellants and rocket-engine) of the old S-75 Dvina. This was supposed to simplify logistics and use at least some parts of the same tooling.
The reason for even producing this missile seems really dumb to me, but maybe it isnt in reality. Maybe it was also just a way to give contracts to the same plants producing the old HQ-2...
But anyway, it is assumed that since it's based on the S-75/HQ-2, it also has the same maximum engagement altitude, even if it is in a shorter body now.
