And this evening we will see if Arsenal can handle winter football like true Englishmen. [:)]

They are playing Graham Potter's lads are they not? Should be an interesting game.

Best wishes,
Steve

Yes, Graham Potter has made an amazing job with that team. Although here the teams inexperience has shown early in the match. I suspect that a few months of preseason training and thinking of this match has taken its toll. Swedish teams are generally bad this time of year (before the season has begun and no grass training) and apparently Östersund is apparently no exception.

Warmest day of winter (only -5 degrees Celsius).

This is a picture from today where they prepare the arena for the match.

Shows how dangerous underestimation can be for sure.

I don't think there was any suggestion of underestimation - and Newport County in the last round would have stopped any notion of that. Although 11 changes were made from the Juventus game, none of the players put out were inexperienced 'kids' (Foyth was the only one vaguely in that category) and when Poch plays Rose, Alderweirald, Son, and Wanyama (regulars last season), Trippier and Winks (plenty of games both this and last season) Moura (£25m Brazil international just signed from PSG) Sissoko (who has played in more Spurs matches than anyone this season) and you have Alli, Kane and Dembele on the bench, then that doesn't smack of a weak team.

I don't think Spurs underestimated Rochdale, I think the Rochdale players rose to the occasion, did their homework (Spurs don't like not being given space) and so stopped Spurs from playing - at least in the first half. Second half was one way traffic but Moura tired and Son just couldn't find his touch all game.

Yes, its called supporting Spursey. Except there is no hate involved - just a general feeling of resignation about what will happen, interspersed with all-too brief periods of elation (like when we win a corner for example or actually have a shot on goal) but even then knowing that it'll all end in tears and sans trophies.

can remember following Spurs at away matches when I lived in Lancaster (so tended to see them more away in N England) in the dire period of the mid-90s, it was such a relief when they were defending the goal at the opposite end of the match. At least the chaos and incompetence that passed for a defense was partly hidden by distance [;)]. Some of those games, getting a throw-in in the opposition half was one of the high points.

When you've been supporting Spurs this long you can write the script. Sadly I predicted 1-2 after we score first. [:(]

Why can't I be right when I predict the lottery numbers? [&:]

The football season is close to begin. Lots of snow, but now days the pitches are usually decent or made out of plastic so the fear of mud filled pitches for the first few matches are almost gone. So I eagerly await the first few matches with hope that it will not be the usual disastrous start of the season.
