Fall Weiss DE Question

Fury Games has now signed with Matrix Games, and we are working together on the next Strategic Command. Will use the Slitherine PBEM++ server for asynchronous multi-player.

Fall Weiss DE Question

Post by magic87966 »

I'm playing SC for the first time and using Fall Weiss II ver 12 as the Axis. I'm really enjoying it. My question is about what I think is a Graf Spee DE for the Allies. The Allied AI apparently sunk the Graf. What are the details of this event? What did it cost the Allies and what did they gain? Same for the Germans. I expected the CA unit I had in the Atlantic to disappear after the event but it didn't. And I didn't see any indication of morale impact to the British or Germans. What am I missing? Thanks.

Glad to hear you are enjoying the mod, below is the decision event presented to the British.

The German Heavy Cruiser Graf Spee is raiding our shipping lanes in the South Atlantic. Soon we will begin to feel the economic effects of Graf Spee's successes. Our Naval advisers suggest sending a search fleet to deal with the problem. Should we pursue the German raider, Graf Spee and maintain Naval protection in the South Atlantic thereafter? It will cost 50 MPP for 5 turns.

Between September and December 1939, the Graf Spee sank nine ships in the South Atlantic, before being historically confronted by three British cruisers at the Battle of the River Plate on December 13, 1939. It took considerable effort on the part of the Allies to hunt down the Graf Spee. If you select (Yes) then the Graf Spee will ultimately be sunk in the South Atlantic. If you select (No) then then we run the risk of reduced convoys in the short term and the eventual return of Graf Spee to port in Germany.

Thank you!

I should also mention that the British convoys will experiencing some raiding in the winter of 1939 if you select No as well.

So the Graf Spee is not included in the German Force Pool unless/until the Allies say 'NO' to the event and the Graf returns to a German Port?

That is correct. The Graf Spee is already at sea but further south in the Atlantic then the map goes when the game starts and essentially it's fate is left to the Allies to decide.
