Minefields

Hi,

Been following both of the great AAR's above and am curious as to how minefields are identified on the map. Are they a permanent display in the same fashion as a terrain feature (such as a wadi) so that both sides know where all minefields are located at all times?? Or do you only know your own locations and have to "encounter" the enemies?
Also can minefields be constructed during play?? Or are they fixed at start?

V4V/WaW were also amongst my very favourite games. I still play them occasionally and am pleased to see them appearing as inspiration in this design. An instant sale on the 22nd.

Hi Rob,
Minefields are shown on the map (as a row of red dots), so both sides know all the minefields.
The thing about minefields is that no one "owns" them. After all, attacking over your own minefields is as difficult as attacking over the enemies.
Minefields are added by the scenario creator and are all there at start. This is because they represent large areas covered by mines that would take far longer to construct than the timescale of the scenarios.
You can of course "Breach" minefields using Engineers, clearing tracks through the minefield though even a breached minefield gives clear defensive benefits. The main difference between breached minefields and minefields is that supply can be traced through breached minefileds.

Yep, I still have those boxed Stalingrad and Crusader games! Those were great games all right!
