Player Questions

Post by jcrohio »

Played this game when it first came out and then put it aside for a while. Getting
back into now trying to relearn the system. A couple of things popped up that I would
like to ask about.

1. Command and Control - trying to learn the game playing on Very Hard. Feel like that
is the best way to "help" the AI. Did not do this last time around but am committed to
it this time. Anyway a couple of points. Number one I just started a game four time just
to try something out that I felt was happening in my last game. Every time I started a
new game I had leaders OOC. Never squads. I felt like I was getting a very disportionate
amount of leaders being OOC in my last two games. While I am on the subject is it possible
to expand upon what increases the chances for unit or leader being in command?

2. I remember from two years ago being careful using flame throwers as they randomly
crashed the game. This just happened to me a few minutes ago. Game crashed with flamethrower
use. Is this still a bug?

I'm sure there will be more questions. Thanks for any help.

Hi Jack,

1) I was inspired to some degree by ASL Solitaire module when I wrote the command and control rules. So you can read about Solitaire ASL Command Control general structure here: http://www.delwood.org/SASLIsNotASL.html

2) Regarding the flame thrower issues, it was fixed I think in either update 3 or update 4 - I can't exactly remember. Please make sure your game is up to date.

Thanks

Thanks for the reply.

1. That article pretty much says what I found on line from Solitaire ASL and what you put in the manual. I was just
surprised with all the leaders I was getting that failed their CMD check while the squads did not. I guess I would
have expected just the opposite.

2. I remember you fixing this a while ago. That is why I was surprised with the error. The problem might have been as
follows: Recently you posted a small upgrade to the exe file for ToTH. I copied this file over my original ToTH exe
file. When I ran the game I got a message about an issue with sound files and the would not load. Went right back and
tried again and everything seemed OK but I never played a scenario with a flame thrower in it until today. Tonight I shut
my computer off which I don't do often and may not have done at all since I installed your new exe file. Went back in the
game and used the flame thrower three or four times and all seems good.

Thanks for help
