Turkey/Sweden supply and US diplomacy

Fury Games has now signed with Matrix Games, and we are working together on the next Strategic Command. Will use the Slitherine PBEM++ server for asynchronous multi-player.

Turkey/Sweden supply and US diplomacy

Post by jjdenver »

If Turkey joins Axis and Bulgaria is also Axis, will Turkish cities/towns be limited to 5 max the way Africa is (since it can't trace to primary supply directly I suppose?) or will it go up to 8 or 10? Basically can supply be traced across bosporus strait like a regular land rail hex?

Same question for Sweden. It looks like there is a land bridge North of Copenhagen although there is no rail line going to the hex - will Sweden that aligns to Axis be able to get more than 5 value for its towns/cities?

Also is there any way to get Finland to more than 5?

Hope this question makes sense - I'm a bit foggy on all of this.

Oh one other random question - has anyone looked at whether it's worth spending diplo points on US diplomacy to keep them out? At 150 per chit it seems expensive. Will they get some automatic increase per turn that makes them join quickly even if Germany spends diplomacy on them? i.e. is it throwing away money to spend it on diplo of US?

Thanks

7.13.1. Connected Resources
If the resource is in direct connection via rail to a
friendly Major’s Capital, Industrial Center or Primary
Supply Center ...

Keep on reading 7.13.1 and following paragraphs for more details.

'Direct' connections are not made across Straights.

Best way to get Finland good supply is to take Leningrad, therefore having the 'direct' connection to Berlin [:)]

As to spending on US diplo to keep them out ... waste of MPP's needed for attacks on USSR, I think. You might keep US away for six months, not sure it is worth it, maybe others who have done it can weigh in.

Thanks I found this at 7.13.1:
"If the resource is in direct connection via rail to a friendly Major’s Capital, Industrial Center or Primary Supply Center, then unless they are damaged, these resources will have strength and supply values of: § 12 for Major Cities, Major Capitals and Major Fortresses § 10 for Cities, Ports, Capitals and Fortresses § 10 for Occupied enemy Major Cities and Major Capitals § 8 for Towns, and any Occupied enemy Resources § 5 for Settlements"

Then this about straits:
" Coastal hexes count as either Land or Sea, depending on the proportion of each in the hex, and there are also some hexes with both attributes called Land/Sea hexes. These act as land bridges between land masses, e.g. the Suez Canal or the Bosphorus Strait. "

So does that mean that bosporus counts as a land hex and since there is a rail line then Turkish cities can be connected across Bosporus? Or no? Sorry but I'm still unclear about Turkey - sounds like Sweden is a no since there is no rail line there.

Don't get me confused too !

direct connection via rail

Let's focus on that. Once Turkey is connected [as per 7.13.1] all is good. No rail [as at Copenhagen - Helsingborg] is no good.
