The Liberation of Marseille for JTCS West Front (25 Turns)

Image

Under the pseudonym Dragoon initiated on August 15, 1944 at 8 clock early 7 US Army under General Patch the liberation of southern France. While US troops were to conquer St. Tropez, Cavalaire and Raphael, the target of the 9th Colonial and 1th Armored Divisions was the liberation of Marseilles. On 28 August 1944, the French troops then reached Marseille, where the German 244 Infantry Division was prepared for the defense of Marseille.

Just noticed that... bugger, I already blogged about it. The .html after the .zip kinda must have caused it. All save now?

@Jean: How do you, as Frenchman, see the struggle in Indochina and later Algeria? I somehow got dragged into it... so many interesting facets... less know to the public/wargamers, e.g. Operation Lea, Lorraine, the lot.

Merci!

Have you an English version of this scenario ?

I think that there are errors of localization :

River in Marseilles = L'Huveaune
The Durance itself is a tributary of the Rhône and flows into the Rhône near Avignon.

Sorry the map is already old, at that time there was only very undetailed maps available. It is also difficult to implement everything 1: 1. Today's maps can only partially be used as a comparison because a lot has changed over the decades. I apologize for the resulting inaccuracy.

That's right .... I'll make the map again and revise it .... Have now synonymous better maps .... In the other scenarios that I still have in German versions, I will also check the maps and translate before I put them online ..... Thanks for reporting the incorrectness

Here is the scenario with modified map file

I noticed that my former knowledge of the conditions were rather small. Since I now have more detailed information I will recreate the same scenario. So to speak V 2.0

Updated the link at the HKL!

The interest it generated is quite amazing I have to say. Well done!

There is a place essential to Marseille, it is the basilica Notre-Dame-de-la-Garde :

August 28th, 1944, at 8 am in the morning takes place, in the basilica Notre-Dame-de-la-Garde, a solemn mass in the presence of the generals of Goislard of Monsabert, Guillaume and Besançon as well as flags and banners of the units of the 3rd DIA which participated in the liberation of the Phocaean city :

Here is a part of the new map for Marseille 2.0.
As a template was used material of the US Army Map Service 1943 in the scale 1: 10000
