'Panzer army' China.

I recall I have seen/read an AAR like this in past. Very old.

Once through the hilly / mountain / forest south of Sian this panzer army can try to swing around 'north for lack of better term' to attacking into the plains and against the Chinese capital. A "Patton Pivot" once Sian is captured.

It was very effective as I recall.

I hesitate to offer you advise ~ a rookie to an expert ~ however if British Anti Tank guns are near Ledo, you have the air transport, and victory points to purchase out - you may want to consider a re-enforcement along this line.

I think the greatest problem with defending against tanks in China is the Chinese Army units have so few anti-tank weapons. The squads themselves never get any - anti-armor remains at 5 through all upgrades IIRC - and there are only a few organic to the units. Only two specific anti-tank units. Once those devices are lost there are practically no replacements. Add in the low starting experience of Chinese units and it's a bad situation!

I'm looking forward to trying an assault on an armor unit in woods or woods/rough if it's alone.
I may have a chance in Burma soon. Of course one try is no sand box but I do have a thickish
cranium and am not adverse to experimentation. I have a vision of 3:1 .....

My experience is that at this point in the war, Allied NavS pilots are not to be trusted! Most of them are around 50 NavS, which is a little low for consistent results, IMO. Once they're uniformly 70, I get more comfortable relying on them. However, if you've got good pilots, maybe there's a search hole that the enemy has found and exploited? Or he's running the KB around at full speed, which seems crazy.

Just my 2 cents, at least.

I agree. The only hole was if KB1 was a good bit east and sped west with a patrol back east. I am not sure if that would require a full speed run, and I doubt he had a reason to do that. I think anywhere KB1 was had at least single coverage and it's even possible it was under double coverage.

I'd guess four by the numbers if this is consistent with your previous views of the planes. 18 x 4 = 75 for fighters.

Oh. I was thinking the numbers of planes might still be unreliable in the mouse over. I was ready to accept 6 carriers because a) he has had time to get them together, and b) he might be concentrating to deal with the arrival of Hornet. We are using variable reinforcement dates (I forget which number we chose) so he can't be sure: Hornet arrives in about 15 days at the Panama canal.

INVADED
Bataan, Changsha, Nanning, Toungoo are also invested.

CHANGED OWNERSHIP
Sintang is occupied by the Japanese
Japanese forces CAPTURE Singapore !!!

Overall
• No carrier contacts.

• The loss of Singapore will greatly increase the Imperial submarine menace in the Bay of Bengal.

West Coast USA, Alaska, Hawaii
• The convoy for Australia is mostly loaded. One unit has finished packing and is loading and another has just pulled into the train station and will transfer directly to ships.

Pacific
• DL of Pago Pago is 2/1 but none of the TF there show a DL. It seems the Empire is looking for our carriers.

New Zealand, Australia, New Caledonia, New Hebrides, Solomons, Papua New Guinea, New Britain
• Several subs off southern Australia. We put 4 hits on one of them.

• KB1 did not pursue and has either slipped beyond our search or engaged the cloaking device.

• The USA 182 Inf Rgt arrived at Melbourne, as did the 811 Av Eng Rgt, which will proceed to Charters Towers.

Philippines
• Our bastion at Bataan continues to vex the vandals.

DEI, Dutch new Guinea, Borneo, Malaya
• The accountants put their foot down about Singapore. We could have drawn the matter out much longer, but they were firm that taking a write-down now would put the shareholders in a better position for the long term. I think they are more interested in next quarter which will immediately look better after this quarter comes in looking so awful, but they deny the charge.

China
• Bombardments in many places and - surprisingly - another poking attack east of Sian where a full attack would surely have evicted our troops.

India, Burma, Thailand, Indochina
• Proceeding as to most recent plan.

• Calcutta airfield just made size 6, allowing the two AVD Sqns there to upgrade. They both went to P-40B because it has a longer range without drop tanks and when things go bad in China I want to extract as many airframes as possible and not give unnecessary VP to the Empire.

• A Hurricane Sqn arrived at Colombo but will they have time to train before facing KB pilots?

Japan, Korea, Manchuria, Russia
• No subs on station.

Can we get a glimpse of the "lucky number scorecard"? (I will always remember my dad when I was pre teen
at the Oriole games checking the "lucky number" in the program.) I always have angst at this juncture when
Singpore and Bataan fall swaying the VPs and making AV look inevitable.

I did not even check it this turn! [&:]

I am still concerned about most/all of China falling this game, and I'm pretty sure the VP for all those bases was a large factor in the VP equation last game. I overcame it but the Allies' LCU losses was such a large number it took forever to get that piece in the Allies favor. Also, in China and elsewhere I have not been able to deliver much hurt at all to IJ ground forces. Just a bit here and there.

I'm working hard to get the air forces ready before major air battles begin. The navies are mostly being marshaled for battles that matter strategically in conditions as favorable as I can make them. By holding the USN carriers in place I've been able to conserve tremendous amounts of fuel at a time when I had much less capacity to move fuel, so I should have plenty available for them to move fast when the time comes.
