Building a military is not just a long term commitment, but also a multitude of challenge to civilian and industrial sectors. Andrew Erickson persumed and wrote a book about PLAN's newest threat the US Navy is facing: maintenance uproars. Despite the truth of Chinese naval expansion is unshakable, it's just the beginning to prove how long they can keep these warships working for not just few years, but many decades or longer.
In the midst of Trade War, some readers and commenters believes Chinese military, especially PLAN will not be able to expand further, or even start to rust under the increasing debt and loss of profit from tariffs in the short future. But doubts also casted back to the author why PLAN would need to concern about this when both industrial costs and manpowers are vastly superior to US counterparts. Also wear and tear factor does applied to older PLAN vessels too and they are still serviceable:

Funny "unoficial" news from VVS :
- Su-35S cant use R-27R/ER missile(not perspective missile, MOD dont payfor integration), so only R-27ET and R-77-1 AAM
- Su-30SMs of first series(~50 planes) cant use R-77-1 , only R-27 family and export RVV-AE (inherit from Su-30MKI) , but since there is no RVV-AE in VVS they fly with R-27s
currently MOD consider upgrade programme for this planes (integration of R-77-1)
funny thing is sometimes on trials Su-35S, since there is shortage of R-77-1, fly with mockup/real R-27s that he cant use (and we have photos of this)
and Su-30SMs from first series fly with R-77-1 mockup they cant really use (and we also have photos of this)
also there is somthing like ~30 Su-30SMs of late series that can use R-77-1
consider all this rumours as "rumors" [8D]
also explain why Su-30SM in Syria don't use R-77-1 while Su-35S use them in same place , mystery solved ![:D]

It turns out that 65-76A torpedo is still in service in RuNavy.
http://weaponews.com/weapons/25856-uniq ... 5-76a.html
Recently Russian military channel Zvezda, which has direct ties with Russian MOD, has shown the documentary about Akula class subs where it was stated that 65-76A is in service.
For a long time it was believed that those torpedoes were withdrawn from RuNavy after the Kursk disaster.

The SU-30SM story from TASS is interesting on two levels.
Firstly it appears to confirm the R-77-1 has been integrated on the SU-30SM.
Secondly it implies that the R-77-1 has only just been approved and adopted (i.e March 2018!) contrary to popular media mythos that it was adopted on the SU-30SM years ago.
Of course with the caveat that a government news agency may or may not be taken at face value.
One day a genuine picture of the SU-30SM with R-77-1 may finally confirm its status.
Regards
K.

J-10D testbed with WS-10X TVC engine. First ever clear piture of this new AVEN-styled thrust vectoring engine that also features stealthy sawtooth edges.
This engine is also the current interim engine for the J-20A.

This feels like a statement on British military funding...
RE: Naval and Defense News
Lol. I suppose it could be seen like that. Though to be fair the UK has one of the largest defence budgets in the world. Moreover, there is now political support for an increase. There has already been a big increase in chemical and biological warfare research – and the creation of another 1,000 man cyber warfare division.

I must say UK has very impressive military forces, both present and past, as I saw the documentary about the colonial Hong Kong. They even proposed to deploy nukes in Hong Kong to deter Chinese invasion if they want to forcefully retake Hong Kong (which isn't happens after the agreement in 1984).
