Players Edition versus standard edition?

The new Cold War turned hot wargame from On Target Simulations, now expanded with the Player's Edition! Choose the NATO or Soviet forces in one of many scenarios or two linked campaigns. No effort was spared to model modern warfare realistically, including armor, infantry, helicopters, air support, artillery, electronic warfare, chemical and nuclear weapons. An innovative new asynchronous turn order means that OODA loops and various effects on C3 are accurately modeled as never before.

Players Edition versus standard edition?

Post by spinecruncher »

I thought I would see a thread on this somewhere. So in my library is "Germany Reforged," but in the store, I also see the "Players Edition." Why is one $19.99 and the other $49.99?

Are there any expansions to this title? I was only able to find the above two. Seems like an East Asian expansion pack would be in demand, North Korea etc.

Thank you!

Edit:

So I open the game and I see on the main screen I have Players Edition. No opportunity for expansions :( I so love adding to my dusty game library.

Players Edition is the base game of Red Storm. Germany Reforged is a DLC add on that has all of the old Flashpoint Germany (no longer available) scenarios redone for the Red Storm game engine. So the higher cost is the base game and the lower cost is the DLC. If you have both the Game launch screen says Germany Reforged, but it opens the full game and you will have the additional scenarios in the scenario selection screen. I hope that makes sense. [8D]

I am not sure here. I launch the Game and it says Players Edition but I also get a pop-up that I have Germany Reforged scenarios. This is what I purchased in Dec 2015:

Flashpoint Campaigns: Germany Reforged - for which I paid $19.99

Can you give me an example of a scenario I should look for to see if I have all of the scenarios I can get? Nt sure why it says players edition when I only paid $19.99

I would like to know whle the sale is on

edit: If PE is the base game, how am I able to play without the base? Did I get lucky and get the whole farm for only $19.99?

I am sure there is only that one purchase but I have all these scenarios and campaign to play. :)

When you start the game and get into the main menu, what is the version number you see in the bottom right of the dialog box?

I'm baffled. Maybe you purchased it with the base game when they were bundled back then and got them on sale. My best guess. The game engine is at the latest release.

So do I have PE? Is there a way to know? I do not see that MP sudden death feature.

You would have to to have a running game. Germany Reforged was a scenario and maps DLC only. Not a standalone game.

Greetings Spinecruncher,
Read Capn Darwin's first reply.
When you startup FCRS, the screen should look like this > 'Germany reforged', then 'Players Edition'

Yes well the bizarre thing is I only ever purchased the $19.99 version, I cut and pasted the e-mail receipt below( But the first and second screens are identical to the previous post. I appear to have PE). I don't have any friends that gave me PE. and btw I do not appear to have all the features of PE, for example, MP sudden death.

Thank you very much for your purchase of:

(1) - Flashpoint Campaigns: Germany Reforged - - Download

Your key: xxxxx-6xxx6-xxxxx

Edit:

my DL folder has two files:

1)FlashpointRedStorm-Setup-206
2) FlashpointGermanyReforged-SetupRelease-v2010

What are the sizes on both of the files? It sounds like you have both. Sounds like you are up to date with 2.0.14. I will have to check with Matrix and see if they some how messed up and sent the PE file as well with the Germany Reforged. At this point you have everything.

Please, please, please [&o][&o][&o] let me know if you get this. I'd really like to get a copy, too! [:D]

Seriously though... Southern Storm is still "in prodcution". There are many anxiously awaiting it's release [;)]
