Rule 3.6.10 Evasion

Post by Freetalk7 »

All service vessels except for Carriers and escort carriers against land units have 100% evasion.
I have been bombarding Malta with a range of surface ships. There is an anti air unit in Malta.
Apart from doing no damage to the Malta unit, my ships are sometimes being damaged.
This is clearly contradictory to the rule. Any ideas or help please? Thank you

Hi Freetalk7,

Just double checking things on my end and the way it works is that the naval units in question that do have 100% evasion against land units will hold true to this if combat is against land units alone, but if it is against a resource such as a city or port then this evasion rule does not apply.

So in the case where there is a land unit on Malta that is attacked by a naval unit, the naval unit is actually attacking the resource first, with a small chance that a part of that attack will do some damage to the anti-air unit atop of that resource. Any damage that the naval unit receives back is from the resource and not from the land unit above it.

Hope this helps and makes sense,
Hubert

Thanks Hubert. Your reply does explain what happened. I suppose the manual is a little bit out of sync with the reality. But it is great to know what is happening to my rapidly sinking ships!
