Doing my best. I have some large units responding but you can see the problem I face: that unit can go in any one of multiple directions. With the poor experience of my nearby units I might not pick up the direction of travel in time. Heck, even if I knew it now I might not get units there in time. Those follow on units he has are going to require more power to stop so it'll be a finger in the dike situation.

Maybe I'll try that with a base force. I'm also trying to maintain garrison requirements but those do not always work out. India is tough for sorting out all those and lately Sining has been nailing us for 1 VP per turn.

Unscrupulous JFBs, will launch huge bombastic assaults to get VPs, but when you
hand them the keys to the city they act all affronted. No satisfying them.

[:D] That's not Walter. This is a case of taking my own medicine. There is a circle of road around Sining so the base force escaped as the Inf Rgt entered and tried to circle around and flee into the outback. Obviously he spied that and the Inf Rgt gave chase, catching the base force once. Sining now lacking an Imperial garrison felt the jedi presence in nearby Lanchow, using that as an excuse to flip sides. But they are not really loyal, it was crime cartels wanting free reign, and we've been paying VP ever since. Bahstahds! [:D]

But all of the casualties were ours, which is a very bad sign. It might even have been an armour-only assault which means the infantry can crush us tomorrow.

• We've managed to upgrade two fighter squadrons on Java (they are all on Java), one to P-40E the other to Hurricane IIb Trop. We had 12x P-40E to fill that squadron but only 7x Hurricane IIb Trop for the other squadron. There aren't many bombers left to escort but there are some. Let's hope the planes get uncrated and assembled quickly. We've also upgraded a bomber squadron to B-25C at Soerabaja and one at Batavia. Another at Batavia was upgraded to DB-7B. As with the fighters it will take a few days to ready enough planes to make attacks.

China
• Just north of Sian, this nearly dead unit was a speed bump. The Imperial armour is now heading north and likely will work to force the road into the Chungking plain.

Good news: we do see the direction of travel of the lead unit (at the river) and are moving to intercept, but with a modest unit. Our air strikes are needed but did not fly today. More squadrons with fighter escort have been positioned with orders.

• Now 2 enemy units at Urumchi. Where do they all come from?!

India, Burma, Thailand, Indochina
• CV Formidable has arrived at Cape Town and will proceed to Colombo with destroyers.

• With KB1 not sighted in a few days we have to start being alert to the possibility of a surprise strike at Colombo in several more days.

I didn't realize the sub war was so one sided to date. We have a number of subs with battle damage pulling out of the Java Sea and nearby waters but none are in danger of sinking.

• With KB1 in the Java Sea I can only hope the major airfields on Java remain open while the new bombers make ready. At Soerabaja 7 of 9 B-25C and 6 of 7 Hurricane IIb Trop might be ready tomorrow. Only 2x P-40E will be ready, though. At Batavia 3 of 6 B-25C and 5 of 9 DB-7B wil lbe ready. Along with existing aircraft all squadrons are standing up. Maybe they can land a few blows.

CHANGED OWNERSHIP
Buitenzorg is occupied by the Japanese

Overall
• With scouting spotty: KB1 in eastern Java Sea, KB2 and KB3 at Kalidjati and possibly combined.

• Units on the West Coast and at Pearl Harbor are beginning preparation for Maloelap, Roi-Namur, and Kwajalein Island. Assault shipping is the greatest limiting factor.

West Coast USA, Alaska, Hawaii
• The fuel convoy for New Zealand has loaded and will depart tonight.

• Lexington, Saratoga, and co. have arrived at Pearl Harbor and will commence upgrades as appropriate.

Pacific
• The troop convoy at Pago Pago has finished unloading and will depart, meanwhile a fuel/supply convoy has arrived and will begin unloading.

New Zealand, Australia, New Caledonia, New Hebrides, Solomons, Papua New Guinea, New Britain
• A fuel/supply convoy is almost finished unloading at Melbourne.

Philippines
• Bombardment at Bataan, where supplies grow short but the units all still have supply.

DEI, Dutch new Guinea, Borneo, Malaya
• Aircraft came ready as estimated with a number more to come ready tomorrow. Aircraft already on the flight line made a number of attacks into Zero CAP and took heavy losses. Our subs also made several attacks to no avail.

China
• Our bombers finally flew against the westernmost infiltrators and hopefully will keep doing so, but perhaps the Empire will object.

The Ching An Tui brigades are very poor quality troops, experience >10, morale very low, leaders poor and expensive to buy out, + in this case, you caught them still in move mode. A combo he will not provide again. So now that you have Kiuchuan, can you meet the garrison requirement? And will you try to take the sister city, Uglichuan?

I forgot to get the base force moving again before I ended the turn. Even though it is not visible to me a the moment I am pretty sure the 2nd Ind.Mixed Brigade, which mauled them outside of Sining, is still chasing them. The problem there is the only road thought to be free from enemy is east and is secondary while the other roads are primary. Until the base force gets a couple of hexes out it can be caught just by the faster movement allowed behind it.

A bit like Bonnie and Clyde having fun while they can.
