Visibility in the Scenario Editor

Post by Big Ivan »

I noticed when in the scenario editor of CSME 2.01 visibility for units that move first in a scenario shows,

but doesn't show for units that move second. As we know down in the left corner of the editor it will show

which side moves first in the scenario when you click anywhere on the board.

Was wondering if this is working as designed?

Thanks

WAD by default. We hadn't thought of: Why yes, in the scenario editor, you would want to see LOS visibility for either side.

As a very kludgey workaround, you can load your scenario creation in the game engine to observe the LOS visibility for Side B.

In the scenario editor, as in the game engine, sidedness is intrinsic to the game mechanics. By default, in the scenario editor, the side is assumed to be Side A, naturally enough. In the case of LOS visibility at least, we will see in future updates if we can relax this assumption.

Thanks berto,

I was messing around with EFII this morning and switched to CSME. That's when I just noticed it.

In the old code for CS EF/WF/RS the assumption seems to be relaxed.

As for the upcoming CS'Nam, any comments on a fix?

Yes, because in legacy JTCS LOS visibility was available from any hex, side occupied or not. Before, sidedness was irrelevant to LOS visibility.

Well sure, now that you have brought it to our attention, we will endeavor to fix this in all future games and updates.
