CWDB airbases

Post by SunlitZelkova »

What do you guys do when you need to build an airbase in a, say, 1950s scenario, but there is no good aerial imagery that allows you to determine different structures?

Do you just use the structures that exist in the present? Or is there another method of building airbases when there is no accurate info on them?

When I do not have aerial imagery I am trying to find old photos of the airbase. So I can have some idea what was there and what not.

Depending on the dates, I've found a great option for reference is using the declassified NTM available on the USGS website. Searching through imagery can be a pain and the GSD isn't stellar, but it will help sort out airfield/facility layout. If you're skilled with GIS you could probably turn the TIFF files into GeoTIFFs or create overlays for Command.
