Naval retreats?

Fury Games has now signed with Matrix Games, and we are working together on the next Strategic Command. Will use the Slitherine PBEM++ server for asynchronous multi-player.

Naval retreats?

Post by seydlitz22513 »

I have noticed on many occasions that ships constantly retreat away from potential safety. For example you see German ships posiitioned 2 or 3 hexes from Wilhelmshaven and the Kiel canal, when attacked 4 or more times instead of retreating towards the ports at Wilhemshaven and Kiel, they head towards the coast of Britain or even worse still into the English Channel? Is it possible to fix this as soon as possible please, so at the very least retreating ships head towards their own home waters and safety.

The default mechanism is to prioritize the unit retreat so that it will not be adjacent to an enemy unit once it has completed its retreat. Granted this may result in the naval unit in your case retreating in a less than ideal direction, but I'd have to see some screen shots of your examples to have a better idea if anything can be done that ideally balances out direction and an optimal final position.

For example, combat that is well out to sea, and if your opponent will always know that your unit retreats back towards a friendly port, then you potentially lose a bit of the FoW etc.

Thanks for the reply Hubert, it's maybe just me that this bothers, I have always got plan B as an option, in that I can do away with any retreats, and just have ships have a fair sized evade %. Love the game, is there a WW1 version any time soon in the works?
