Boys of '67

The new Cold War turned hot wargame from On Target Simulations, now expanded with the Player's Edition! Choose the NATO or Soviet forces in one of many scenarios or two linked campaigns. No effort was spared to model modern warfare realistically, including armor, infantry, helicopters, air support, artillery, electronic warfare, chemical and nuclear weapons. An innovative new asynchronous turn order means that OODA loops and various effects on C3 are accurately modeled as never before.

Boys of '67

Post by ctcharger »

Getting back into Flashpoint and after playing a bunch of scenarios and PBEM, I would eventually like to try creating a mod and a few scenarios.

Clearly in the idea phase at this point but after reading the Boys of '67, I think a Vietnam riverine based game would be fun.
The US maps of that era are freely available and elevations are nil in the delta so that's easy. I hope anyway.
Most of the OOB is in Flashpoint (M113s, air support, helicopters, troops, bunkers, artillery, etc.)
The only issue would be the river boats. Basically they are tanks and APCs that can only go in the water.
Is such a vehicle possible in Flashpoint? If not, maybe roads as rivers could work?

It would need to be tested, but if you had hex wide rivers (Small streams-hex edge will not work), a platform with Amphibious, but zero speed, you might be able to have it move slowly along the river with water movement but basically beach itself with zero move on a land hex. I don't remember if the water speed is a static value or derived from the units speed. Case 1 works. Case 2 not so much.
OTS is looking forward to Southern Storm getting released!
