Supply Question

Fury Games has now signed with Matrix Games, and we are working together on the next Strategic Command. Will use the Slitherine PBEM++ server for asynchronous multi-player.

Supply Question

Post by magic87966 »

Can someone help with these 2 rulebook entries?

7.15. Besieging Resources:
Any resource except for a Capital or Fortress that has 2 or more enemy units adjacent to it will have its strength reduced by 1 point per turn until it reaches 0. The absence of enemy units will see the resource regain strength by 1 point per friendly turn, i.e. deterioration happens in both friendly and enemy turns, but regaining strength only occurs in friendly turns.

5.13.3. Damage to Resources:
Any resource except for a Capital of Fortress that has 4 or more enemy units adjacent to it will have their resource strength reduced by 1 point per turn until it reaches 0. If there aren't 2 enemy units present then the resource regains strength by 1 point per friendly turn, i.e. deterioration happens in enemy turns, and regaining strength only occurs in friendly turns.

Is it 2 units will reduce supply if the city is cut off from a resource and 4 if it is not? I have just taken Stalingrad and it is connected by rail to a German resource but there are currently 3 Soviet units adjacent to the south. Will this reduce Stalingrad's supply as long as the Soviet units are adjacent?
Thanks.

From experience it is 2 units (particularly in regard to towns/cities/ports).

Not sure if the 5.13.3 is for some very specific situation (mines, oil?) or if it is just a missed editing mistake from earlier when the rule might have changed.

Gee, I hope not! I'm in mid 1943 and I still have trouble understanding supply![:)]

And there's this from the Manual:

HQ Supply Distribution Value = 5 if the current supply value of the HQ is <3

But also this:

If an HQ has access to a supply source of value 1-5, then its Minimum Supply Value will be as follows:
HQ strength 10 then MINIMUM SUPPLY VALUE is 8.

I don't get it...

Hi Magic87966,

I can confirm that is a typo in the manual and it should read as follows:

Any resource except for a Capital of Fortress that has 2 or more enemy units adjacent to it will have their resource strength reduced by 1 point per turn until it reaches 0

For your supply question, HQs have a supply value that they receive much like all other units on the map and this can be based on distance from a friendly supply giving resource and so on, but they also have a 'Distribution Supply' value that will be the supply value they give to friendly units that are within range of that HQ. Essentially HQs act as supply wagons on the field.

This part just relates to what the HQ supply value will be:

If an HQ has access to a supply source of value 1-5, then its Minimum Supply Value will be as follows:
HQ strength 10 then MINIMUM SUPPLY VALUE is 8.

While this part tells you some info on what the Distribution Supply value will be for other units based on what the supply value the HQ is:

HQ Supply Distribution Value = 5 if the current supply value of the HQ is <3

Hopefully this makes sense,
Hubert

Thank you for the response. It does make sense. A strength 10 HQ can be in 8 supply but only distribute 5 supply if it is receiving 2 supply.
