attacking ships in port

Post by bfcj »

Are the rules governing the attacking of ships in port in any of the manuals? So far I've learned them by trial and (usually costly) error. Whenever I've tried to attack a ship in port, with either air or naval assets, I end up attacking the port instead. But then I've had amphibious forces attached while in a port. And I've read on here that subs can attack them in port? I've looked for this in the manual but, if there there, haven't found them.

I just had the same thought a few minutes ago. I believe that attacking by air into port yields a lot more success against surface ships, but there must be no interference by way of interceptors. I assume you are using carriers.

Though this might be obvious, I find that attacking the port by land to be nearly a wipe out for whomever is in port.

Subs do have success in port, but I think it must be in good supply. If your sub is very advanced, that also makes a difference.

Readiness and Morale also play a factor. If you've wounded, bloodied and chased a ship into port that is low on everything, chances are it'll get whacked when attacked in port.
