Yes, you have to admit the Portland idea is pretty clever. Poorly defended. Sail right up the river......Port-land-ia
By ra way...I think you can get to Bellingham without going past the Oak Harbor guns.

Also under no circumstances should the LYB's be allowed to capture Piroshky's Bakery in Seattle. If they get the recipe to the smoked salmon pastry the war is over.

RE: Invasion USA!! Dontra85 (J) vs NY59Giants (A)
Well, you knew the airfield defenders at Portland were going to fold. If you ask me the amphibious assault ships are worse than the TK's. Also, I don't think the CVE air complements show up without the CVE's..so that has to be at least 1000 AC, more likely 1400 or so (46 CVE from Portland in DBB...ight be more in stock). Ouch.
FWIW you do have good terrain for the defense of Tacoma and Seattle. Wooded rough at Tacoma and then you have the Cascades East of Seattle. You can probably hold the rail link to Vancouver. Get some infantry of some sort to Oak Harbor to help keep IJN BB's out of Puget Sound...and mine the BeJesus out of it. Eastern Washington doesn't matter after the initial surge of reinforcements from Salt Lake. Everything can eventually reach Seattle via Canada..including Eastern US.
Also, don't forget, the damage to the Japan war cause has been done in terms of emergency reinforcements so they might land at Santa Ana or Cap Pendleton and try to take San Diego to take out all the B-24's. If you lose all your B-17, B-29 and B-24 on map production you are well and mightily screwed.

Also this. If he brought paras and transports...wings on, on a CVL for instance...or an AKL (if Japan has any)...he could take Ogden or Boise and Butte and stop your strategic movement toward Seattle.[:)]

This is why I freaked out in my game against NJP and his apparent move toward Hawaii and the west coast and moved the Canadian and British divisions to America.

If Kamloops on the Calgary-Vancouver railway is in stock it is also vulnerable to para assault. I'm sure everything will be fine.

Looks like there may be some truth in those "Japanese radio transmissions detected at Portland" reports.

RE: Invasion USA!! Dontra85 (J) vs NY59Giants (A)
Michael will remember this, but years ago there was a lengthy discussion of various Japanese strategies for a West Coast offensive. The strategic bombing implications were discussed at length - the points that could be harvested in that way, without necessarily triggering the West Coast emergency reinforcements. I think that discussion took place in my AAR against Panzerjagger Hortlund ("War and Peas") about six years ago. Hortlund invaded Canada and engaged in strategic bombing, both by land and KB at sea off California.
As I recall, Bullwinkle and Alfred were two primary contributors to that thread. It might be worth re-reading.

Yes, the question of autovictory with strategic bombing as I recall. Won't there be P-38's all over the place pretty soon now given the accelerated reinforcements?

natural reaction that he counted on, but how can you not respect the intent?
