The combined Allied Navies have returned to Milne Bay. Rain appears to have stymied the Betty attacks. The situation on the ground remains on a par although the Allies are managing to move in new units and further supplies. The Japanese units have thrown up a level 1 fort and and have plenty of supplies for the time being. A Japanese Division from Sinagpore will soon be on the move to bring in some needed firepower.

The sighting of minelayers near Cooktown has thrown a new problem my way. I would have sent my 3 heavy cruisers racing into the anchorage, but the threat of mines has forestalled that move. Kaga and friends are moving back into their usual position 2 hexes off of Milne Bay preperatory to moving further south with the crusiers in an effort to deal with the Allied TFs when they make their run for home. Where are the American carriers????

The not so steady progress situation on Sumatra. Palembang is yet to be taken and with some 14 units sitting tight is going to be a mess. Many of the units that took Singapore will soon be shipped out to deal with this.

The main focus of attention in China. Yenan has been surrounded for some time and receiving daily aerial bombing. It may take a while but I am certain that I have this one covered now that the difficult river crossing has been achieved. With Nanyang falling so quickly I have some usual options on what to do. A quick drive for Sian is not really on the cards as everyone of those dot bases will have an Admin unit and each one I take is yet another that calls out for a garrison. If Yenan does go reasonably quickly it may put pressure on Ed to consider his continued manning of his forward deployed positions in this area. It would be nice to complete an encirclement but Ed has the better routes available to fall back into Sian.

Some good progress, but the prolonged fight for Singers has cost you dearly, tied down forces and stalled progress in vital areas (Palembang, Tarakan etc.) - you will face difficult times ahead.

China is intended to be a theater with limited activity due to the need to find the necessary garrison troops. I'm just wondering why Ed is building-up airfields in (former) dot bases in "guerilla country", like around Tsinan. Looks like a waste of assets to me. Maybe I will omit the Const Eng squads in the Guerrilla units in the next version of the mod and raise the fort levels a bit instead.

Yes all very costly but it is all for the learning experience. I like this mod but if I give it a go again (which I don't see any reason why I wouldn't) I will be doing a lot more planning (as opposed my jump in a give it a go effort this time around) and work very hard on eliminating Singers and Palembang in a more orderly fashion.

China is interesting and employing garrison troops is difficult, as it should be. I am surprised that Ed is building up dot base AFs. I can only presume it is for VP collection and to attempt to make supply improve. On the whole though I get the impression that Ed is building absolutely everywhere. He is creating a beast.

Those Allied ships are still around. Not sure if they did stay last turn and the weather caused me to miss them or they are waiting for a chance to return and continue to unload. Very poor results from my torpedoes bombers - I put it down to weather conditions and ships being a sea and partly me fault for failing to keep the Rabaul Air HQ stocked with torpedoes. I have tinkered with the TF orders and if the Allied TFs stay something is bound to give. I am either playing a high stakes game waiting for the American carriers to arrive or worrying over nothing. Perhaps the Doolittle Raid is on the way. Perhaps Ed has sent his carriers to the western side of the board.
