Even the big boys do it, sometimes...

Our catcher, Yadier Molina, took a 102 mph fastball to the nuggets while catching. I'm pretty sure he was wearing a cup but he had to go into surgery and will be out for a month. He's by far the best player on the Cardinals. He's among the best the Cardinals have ever had, and that's saying a lot.

Had a friend who missed a grounder and got hit like that. It was the first time that I heard the term 'testicular torsion'. Didn't sound good then or now.

Thank you for all the nice bird pictures. Made my day. [:)]

I would post a graphic about how good Mr. Molina is, but it seems that Matrix's budget for storage has been used up by bird porn. [:D]

Priorities, baby! [8D]

I've seen this ad gimmick so many times with diners and the like, but I've never seen an appropriate illustration to go with it. This is particularly common with Chinese (restaurants). Well, here's my illustration:

There used to be a restaurant nearby called "Zorba the Greek's". We always called it "Absorba the Grease".

Speaking of Things to Ponder - why is it news when no one wants to sit next to a man with crabs on the subway?

That's why I'm a strap hanger. I bring Black Widows to put on all the straps near me.

Crabby describes the disposition of some subway commuters on the Yonge / University line. [8D]

The shock was purely that they were actual crabs and occupied 4 seats at rush hour [:D]

Here are three male cowbirds at one of my feeders. Cowbirds behave similarly to Cuckoo birds in that they lay their eggs in the nests of other birds. Unlike Cuckoos, however, their young do not push the eggs of their adoptive parents out of the nest.

Hmmm - the coloration suggests these are Jersey Cow Birds. They might have the same cranky disposition as their namesake (channel island) cows.

There is some debate on how Cowbirds learn their distinctive song since they aren't raised by their parents. Is it instinct? Part of their song I would describe as the sound of someone wading through water, ankle deep.

Like Red-wing Blackbirds, sounds like water bubbling over rocks.

Two King Snakes doing "something" in my driveway.

There was a hypnotic ripple effect going on.
